You will normally take the S8 to Munich East (Mnchen Ost) and change there for the Salzburg train.

Beer and local food is the kind of culture you can experience every day of the week ^ ^
Let me tell you, whatever you do down there, it is one of my most favorite cities and regions. I miss it so much and I really have to go there again soon. Especially spring, summer and early fall is awesome. I am not the big winter guy but if there's plenty of snow, especially the country side is gorgeous, too. @:-)

You can, the offer is very good indeed. Make sure you do not hop on a IC, IR or ICE train as this ticket is not valid on these trains. Your train should be either a RE (Regional Express) or RB (Regional Bahn) train. These are painted red whereas the others are white. And make sure you buy a ticket for up to 5 persons not the other "single" person ticket.

Heading to Munchen this weekend with the family for Easter. I've heard the Deutsches Museum is tremendous. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone here knows - are there any special celebrations in the city for Easter? I was in Munich back in 1990 for Easter and I seem to remember parades or something.

Yes, the Bayern Ticket can be used therefore. In your case it is not the single person ticket !! There are also some restriction on time, but not on the weekends.
