Section 2.5.1 on page 15 spells out the details on who can get an EU digital certificate.

“…der Antragsteller zu dem in § 1 Abs. 1 CoronaImpfV genannten Personenkreis gehört”

https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/c...21-09/__1.html

So if I interpret this correctly, tourists/business travelers from abroad don’t qualify.

Indeed.

Ah dang it. And here I was hoping I’d finally get one in April when I’m in Germany. Switzerland in May maybe…

While it is not officially allowed there are some pharmacies who will do it if you ask nicely.

I got my COVPASS back in October, and have since gotten the booster. I'm wondering, seeing how I already have it, whether they'll add the booster when I'm in Köln next month.

That’s what I am planning to do next time I am in Europe. They should just have to issue you a third cert (which you then scan into the app), and my hope is that it is easier to convince a pharmacy to do that when I show up with two existing paper certs and just ask for the third.

Has anyone got the Germany EU Cert recently? Is the pharmacy in the Berlin airport still able to issue a cert to foreigners?

Hi,

You can get a Swiss Vaccination Cert (you have to proof that you will enter the country - but with most airlines not charging cancellation fees that should be easy) using your CDC card. They charge a small fee of 30 CHF . That took a day and then it appeared in the Swiss Covid Cert App. That produces a QR code that you could read/import into the german CovPass App if needed.

The Swiss one doesn't work anymore. The option to request Covid Cert for foreigners has gone. The Geneva one still works but I doubt they will approve any new request.

Thankfully I did this end of last month (when it was still possible). Hopefully there will be another option (last year I tried the french option, but they can't read and just looked at my german passport and denied the request - even as I'm a US resident and would have qualified).

So - no more european covid certs for Americans?

Why would you need one ? At passport contrôle or at check-in, a CDC card would be sufficient- it's not like they scan the QR code in Germany anymore.

Entry into several european countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy) is easier with a eu cert. I am hoping they will stop this nonsence soon, but in case they do not - would like to get an updated eu cert.

It continues to be a case of YMMV. During my last trip one pharmacy declined my request, another was willing to issue me a cert, but only for the booster (so I have a digital cert confirming 4/4 shots and from previous trips certs for dose #1 and dose #2, but no details on shot #3. And she transposed the DoB, interpreting the US MM/DD/YYYY says DD/MM/YYYY. It took a long time since it was a small pharmacy with only one pharmacist working, and so she kept getting interrupted by real customers (and I encouraged her to take care of them and that I was happy to wait).

The nonsense is that the world managed to develop multiple vaccines in a short period of time, but couldn’t agree on a common way of documenting the application of such vaccines.

Got EU Covid cert at pharmacy in Marburg, Germany

Staff were very helpful, needed my passport and vax cards, nicely walked me through the process and I got my EU Covid digital certificate. Marburg is not a big city, so maybe trying in smaller towns is the way to go.
