Is all this hassle really more worth it than just finding a direct flight or even taking a train?

If your travel is in early October there is increased likelihood of your flights being changed or cancelled compared to say next week.

I've got a bit of a weird connection to make at FRA, on a friday afternoon early october : Arriving at FRA from CDG with AF at 17:25 and right away taking off to LHR with BA (18:35). So basically two different one way tickets, two different airlines, two bookings, no link whatsoever.

I've had great help from two members in the Germany forum on how the transit would go but would like your expert opinion on the timing :

How timing-critical do you think my transit is ? I have never ever been to FRA.. Is my transit possible, or should i better take the 19:45 flight?

Thank you so much
Mat
On separate tickets you have no chance of making this. There is no connection. I suggest you budget for several hours at FRA.

You also don't have 1 hr 10 mins between arrival on AF and departure on BA. You have 50 minutes because BA will close the doors 20 mins before scheduled departure and that assumes your AF arrives on time and there are no delays in deboarding or getting from gate to gate etc etc

Personally I'd book the later BA flight just for the comfort of not having to rush about.

If you want to ask a specific member a question you can either send them a private message or add an '@' to their FT handle (even then they may still not pick it up)
thanks for your message! i think i'll get on the BA later flight!

What if your first flight is an hour late? On separate tickets you have no rebooking protection, youll be asked to buy a new ticket.

yeah, that is a risk. anything can happen. although statistically this flight is rarely delayed and when so, by very little! but yeah, that is a risk and i could only blame myself if i miss the other flight. However i'm just looking to know, if everything goes well, and on time, how "easy" this connection is, and is 50 minutes enough or do i need 2hours?

These days, and with separate tickets, I’d budget three hours. Any more and I’d be willing to buy a new flight if things go wrong.

I havent been to FRA since December and dont know what the situation is like right now other than what Ive read on FT. With a single ticket I might buy a 70-minute connection from Schengen to non-Schengen (or A to B concourse) in FRA especially if there is a later connecting flight on the day but it will be too risky on separate tickets. As someone has already pointed out AF might get a bus arrival gate in A. After entering A concourse follow the signs for B. This will take you to elevators between gates A15 and A17. Take an elevator down, walk through the tunnel, go up an elevator at the end of the tunnel, turn right and go through passport control to exit Schengen. There is no priority lane for business passengers but being able to use e-passgates might help.

As you see there is nothing I can add to the answers and advice you have already received.
