Best place to meet in FRA arrivals
My mom is flying to FRA on LH into T1 B and meeting friends who are flying there into T2 D - they arrive an hour later than she does.
She will have access to LH Welcome Lounge which I *think* is somewhere near T1 B "Meeting Point" and I think asking her friends to come and meet her at T1 B Meeting point or even LH Welcome Lounge would be simplest (they wouldn't have access, but they could ask the front desk to page/get my mom or she could wait near the entrance). Since their flight is later, it gives her a comfortable place to wait, but it involves their finding their way from T2 D arrivals to T1 B. How far is that, and how is the signage?
Another concern with this option is I think the Welcome Lounge doesn't stay open past 13:00 (her flight arrives 11:30, theirs 12:40). In which case their fall-back could be to meet at T1 B Meeting Point, but I don't know if there is somewhere for her to sit there.
Hope someone can help with simplest solution (I define simplest as least likely to get anyone lost
).

Turn right and walk towards the exit from the terminal building then turn left (don't leave the building). There is a cafe bar called Momento which should be easy to spot. It's at the top of the stairs from the arrivals level where the Welcome Lounge is located and probably easier to find than anything else in this area.

Momento is marked on this map.

The map below shows (roughly) where the escalator from the Skyline train platform for B/C is located.

Not sure where her friends are arriving from but from T2D they should go landside
So it sounds like she should go to Welcome Lounge, make use of it till it closes (I assume they will be able to tell her when/if their flight has landed yet) and then go upstairs to the Momento cafe and wait for her friends there?
One thought I had was to maybe book the Welcome service or guide service to meet them and take them to T1/Momento or Welcome Lounge, but I think it's my mom that's more likely to get lost if she has to go from Welcome lounge to Momento - the way you described it though, it seems like it should be quite easy (for most people
).

They are arriving on SU from SVO and they will have to go landslide first since they will have luggage to pick up (my mom won't though). I did check SU2300 and it looks like it *usually* lands early (not that this means much!)
So it sounds like she should go to Welcome Lounge, make use of it till it closes (I assume they will be able to tell her when/if their flight has landed yet) and then go upstairs to the Momento cafe and wait for her friends there?

).Since SU is not in the same alliance and uses a different terminal, staff in the Welcome Lounge won't have the arrival information of friends' flight readily but if your mother asks nicely they should be able to find out for her. Does she and her friends have cell phones they can use to communicate with each other if necessary? If the Welcome Lounge staff can't help or after the lounge is closed, any airport information desk should be able to help.
The Welcome Lounge is on the baggage claim level which is one floor below where she comes out if she arrives in T1B. After leaving the Welcome Lounge she should go up one floor and walk towards check-in hall A. As long as she walks with the road on her right she should find the Momento cafe bar on her right. Almost everybody at the airport speaks English. If she is really lost she can always ask.

Thank you for additional info - it's confirming what I thought I discovered online - I did download the FRA app to check out the map - unfortunately my mom won't have any phone, her friends will have one, but not a smart phone.
At this point I'm going the way of creating maps for them to print in advance of the trip and carry with them - hopefully they will ask for directions if lost.

If the exits on level 1 and entrances on level 2 are in the same position and numbered in the same way, the Welcome Lounge is closest to Exit 6 and Momento is closest (before you get to) Entrance 3. So you know they are almost at opposite ends of T1B. (T1A and T1B are joined together on level 2.)
I think Momento Bar is often used as a meeting place because it's so easy to find. If any of them are lost they can ask any airport employee and they should be able to point them in the right direction.

There's also a little coffee shop/stand right outside the entrance (from the airport) to the Sheraton, could sit and get a coffee and wait on the friends.

Try Kfer at T1 B
I would suggest Kfer's on departure level at T1 B, for a number of reasons:
1) nice place, fine food by airport standards and good aeroplane views
2) adjacent to arrival station of the AirRail transfer from T2 to T1
3) therefore no long (easy to get lost on walking route) to Sheraton et al.

Thanks for suggestions, everyone. I had actually thought about the Sheraton having stayed there, but didn't want to add much extra walking for mom.
I think Momento should work fine - one of its fine qualities are the high quality photos posted to the thread (thanks NewbieRunner) which I showed to my mom and she was happy with it since we then could email her friends the photos (and maps) as well.
Fingers crossed (except it's not for almost three weeks!)

The photo of Momento was taken 8 months ago. Let's hope it hasn't changed since. Kfer sounds like a good option but it's slightly hidden and it should be easier for the OP's mom to find Momento than Kfer if she is the one who is more likely to get lost. There are two ways (two pedestrian bridges) to the Sheraton which could confuse if you haven't been there before.
Hope it will work out ok. I'll be there in a few weeks but probably not until after the OP's mom.

I decided against the Sheraton (where I have stayed before) precisely because I remembered that there were two bridges over.
Mom easily gets lost, but luckily she has no problems asking for directions - and she speaks (not great) English and a little bit of German even.
This excitement is all going to happen September 10th - if anyone goes by those areas before then and spots any obstacles (construction, signs obstructed, Momento being replaced by McDonalds
) please let me know!
