Oktoberfest 2015
My daughter just sent me an email asking if I had any hotel certificates for a room in Munich 9/25-27 (Oktoberfest). She and husband are stationed with Army in Italy.
I searched Hilton, Marriott and spg. At this late date the only points room I could find was at Sheraton Munich Arabellapark Hotel. 10K pts. a night.
The website said it's a short stroll to English Gardens.
Any insights or suggestions?

Location is good. There is the U-Bahn and several busses very close to the hotel. You might wish to check the Westin next door. And I booked the new Aloft close to the station on chash and points for the same weekend a few days ago.

Especially considering that the U-Bahn line is the U4, which runs right to the festival grounds.

The Arabellapark was the only one available when I looked yesterday.
Edited to say: Ok. . .so before I got an answer here I called Starwood and could switch to a king deluxe at the Westin. Hope I made the right move.
Oh, and the Aloft was sold out.

That's a good location. I stayed at the Westin last year and it was a short stroll to the Arabellapark station.
I liked the Westin, but I've never stayed at that Sheraton so I can't compare.

Only stayed at the Westin, in former days it was the Sheraton and part of Luxury Collection. Lobby is still very nice, rooms are on the small side but solid. Agree that public transportation is very good. Le Meriedien is beside the main train Station and still would be my favourite Location. Never stayed there.

Westin Grand:

Arabella Sheraton:

Both are pretty decent, I live around the corner and would +1 the location especially for the U4 going directly to the wiesn

Between the Westin and the Sheraton, I would always choose the Westin. I think the rooms are better and larger, and it doesn't feel as depressing or old as the Sheraton. But I would avoid all those hotels (including the Hilton Tucherpark and the Marriott) as the location is pretty poor. The Meridien is in a better location than the others, but this area, around the Hauptbahnhof, with its 'issues' (drunks, red light district, punch ups between groups of often refugees) also reflect on the better Sofitel and Knigshof hotels. It's not nice to come home to. In my view, the best location is still around the Maxilimiliansstrasse, but you get what you pay for!
