Day trips by train from Munich to snow/tobogganing?

So we are in Munich with two 5-year olds this weekend. We have various nice things lined up (Deutsches Museum, markets, carousels etc) but wonder: can anyone suggest a spot within a couple of hours by train from Munich where there's snow at the moment and (in a perfect world) a toboggan or two to rent, for a day trip? Any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks!

Berchtesgaden seems to have some snow:

Garmisch also has some snow:

Garmish is very easy to get to via train, and a bonus is that there is some beautiful scenery once you're outside Munich itself.

It looks like the cheapest fare for 4 is the Saver Fare at EU23 for the entire trip. This is only for the round trip there and back.

You can also buy a Bayern pass for the 4 of you for EU27, and this then gives you all travel within the entire region, including the Munich S/U Bahn, trams, etc, beginning at 9am. This is a better value if you also plan to use that transit, and if the cheapest Munich-Garmisch fare is sold out. You can purchase the pass online before your trip, and just be sure you have the credit card you used for purchase available to show the conductors on the train.

Thank you so much for this, milepig - that sounds like an excellent plan and with S/U-Bahn included, the Bayern pass fits the bill for us perfectly.

Just wanted to add that the Bayern Ticket is valid before 9am on Saturday/Sunday.

Right - I always forget that you can start earlier on weekends.
