1st time overnight in Berlin
hello everybody,
my girlfriend and i will be staying overnight in berlin for our first time at the end of february. we get there after 4 nights in paris.
we'll be landing at TXL around 23:00 on a Monday and flying off the next morning at 10:20. ive already booked a room at the Alexanderplatz ParkInn by Radisson. i know the hotel is in a great location.
what i want to know is will there by *anything* to do at all during that time of year and night-time in berlin? all we wish for is a nice restaurant with a good view of the city or a nice place with good vibes, and maybe one place to take a glance at and head back to the hotel.
a friend warned me that there isnt much to see/do/eat in berlin at the middle of the night. is it true? can i squeeze *something* out of this night?
thanks alot for everyone who replies.

Well,... a hotel closer to the airport would have definitely been a more convenient choice. The positive is, that the Alexanderplatz is close to Hackescher Markt or Schnhauser Allee, where quite some places will still be open. My take: Just walk towards Hackescher Markt, it is nice and you might still get some decent food.

at first i thought exactly like you regarding the hotel, but the rate i got was just as good as any airport hotel, in addition to it being recommended to me and my gold status there.
thanks

Mag is right. Ditch the Radisson. Get a reservation at the Savoy in Savignyplatz and you'll be ten minutes from TXL and a five minute walk from Florians in Savignyplatz which is a great restaurant and you could eek out a late dinner there. Or the Paris Bar which is famous and also five minute walk. Wake up in the morning, go to the Cafe Savigny and eat a great breakfast and then jump a cab at the stand there for your ten minute trip to TXL

There is nothing for you to do beyond seeing Alexanderplatz at night. None of the H. Markt eateries stay open that late. The best you can hope for is Nordsee or BK. Pretty much a waste of a cab ride. Get a hotel near the airport for convenience.

or just take the subway U8 to Kottbusser Tor. It is just a 8 minute ride from Alexanderplatz. Kottbusser Tor is not nice at all but the area is vibrant and there are plenty of small restaurants nearby in Oranienstrae open at night as well. Try for example Hasir in Adalbertstrae a nice turkish Grillhouse.

Just an idea, but...
On top of the Park Inn Alexanderplatz is an attraction where you can "bungee jump" off the roof of the hotel.
I watched countless, brave (i.e. insane) people do it the last seven months.

Nope, I am pretty sure you mixed them up. I am living in the parallel of Oranienstrae for almost 3 years now, and have never seen any hookers there -however drunk kids ( and even elderly people) may be seen quite often.
