Parking in Berlin

Hi,

We will be driving to Berlin and we are thinking about parking overnight at one of the parkhaus in Berlin during our visit next week. It said it opens 24 hours but they don't have price for 24 hours - it only says 'pro tag'. What does pro tag means?

Also does anyone know about the street parking regulation in Berlin? I guess I can park on the street for free on Sunday only?

Thanks in advance!

i think the mean 0 -> 24.
If you take a "ticket" from 16:00 -> 09:00 you have to pay for 2 Days.

Normally in german "pro Tag" means per 24 hours, e.g. from 8:40 today until 8:39 tomorrow.

It can also mean "per calendar day", but in this case there should be a clarification in the price list like valid "pro Kalendertag" or "pro angefangenenTag" or similar.

Great, thanks a lot ^

Does anyone know about the street parking restriction in Berlin? I remember that it's something like 8-22 Monday to Saturday that you have to pay?

Thanks in advance!

Well, Berlin is very big and the restrictions differ from area to area, so you have to read what is posted in the street you park. @:-)

In this case you can use Google street view, go to the area, where you want to park and have a look at the signs along the street.

Depends where you are. Berlin is not nearly as congested as any other major european city, and there's plenty of free or very cheap places to park.

And as others suggested - read the signs, but generally unless you see a Parkscheinautomat (parking meter machine, usually for a whole block) or a no parking sign, you're able to park for free.

Most street view material in Germany is from 2008-09, a lot has changed since... especially in Munich (the timing went from 19h to 23h in some areas) so don't bother!

The city of berlin has a site where you can see, where in Berlin you have to pay for parking:
http://fbinter.stadt-berlin.de/fb/in...ection=address
Although this page is only in German, it is should be possisble to figure out what each button means. The problem with parking in Berlin is not the price, it is, that you can buy from public machines only tickets for up to two or three hours. That would mean, you have to return to your car every few hours.
