I'm perplexed. You start this thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/germa...s-germany.html about what to do in German for 7-9 days. You don't give a lot of information about your interests or what you like or whether you are there for business or personal. And now you want to buy a Rolex in Germany? What am I missing?
I'm pretty sure many people in this world, do, in fact, shop while traveling...

Besides the obvious VAT refund that should be taken, ask for cash discounts at the store, colleagues have bought a few expensive watches about 10 years ago when the USD was mich stronger than the EUR.

depending on the model and the material cash discounts range from 3 to 30% (the latter if you're a regular customer). With the weak Euro Rolex increased the EU prices last fall. There are several gray market dealers that you might want to check with (find them through chrono24.com).
I guess the discounts are higher with small authorized dealers owning a single store compared to chains like Bucherer and Wempe.
