FRA - which lounge was that?

Hi

I was transiting FRA, on an ORD-FRA-HYD flight this week. ORD-FRA landed in the A concourse, at gate 50-something. I then took the skytrain to concourse B, and went through a large security checkpoint (at least 10-15 scanners). I always seem to go through this checkpoint when I'm connecting to a LH intercontinental flight.

Right after I cleared security, on the same level, there was a lounge. Across the lounge were showers. I got in with Economy Intl boarding pass + *G card. However, the lounge was packed, and they didn't have free wireless (!!!).

I walked right out, and was kinda late boarding my flight to HYD anyway (got on the second bus), so I didn't get to look around much to see what the lounge offered.

So, what lounge did I visit? Is free wifi a luxury in FRA? (just like free water )

It sounds like a Senator Lounge (which is the standard for *G). No free wireless, but they have free booze of higher quality compared to RCC, especially beer

Interesting guess. Why do you think so, from the location or the overcrowding?

Can you pick it out on the map here?

However the "Tower Lounge" which is used by UA flyers FRA-USA has no (complimentary) computers and no free wifi.

Free wifi in Germany is a little bit tricky since a recent ruling of the german supreme court. Operators of wifi-networks are now de facto obliged to keep track of every individual user, so you need some kind of registration with passport. This is to avoid the operator being liable for any illegal activities (e.g. free music downloads) of the user.

If it was on the same level as security it must be the Senator lounge as others have suggested. Yes, it's usually full of *Gs flying in any class but the situation won't improve until the extension to Concourse A opens some time next year.
