rhine falls info request

I will be traveling into the Black Forest area from ZRH, by car via Schaffhausen. We will arrive around noon at ZRH and I would like to visit the Rhine Falls on the way. What is the better side to visit, taking into consideration the view and sights, parking, and the desire to minimize driving on this detour after a long flight?

You could use www.viamichelin.fr to give you a good route. (Yes, so iI've quoted a French site, but it will handle international requests!) The best way to see them is from the BOTTOM.

Take in germany the A81 direction Stuttgart - Bodenseeautobahn. Grenzbergang Thayngen. Switzerland you need a vignette for the car!!!
Exit Rheinfall or Schafhausen. You should exit the motorway before crossing the Rhein!!!

OP is traveling from ZRH to the Schwarzwald, via Schaffhausen. Since he is renting a car at ZRH, it will already have the vignette attached to the windshield.

OP: the autobahn is very well marked as you leave ZRH - just go in the direction of "Schaffhausen" and the exit for the Rheinfalls will be denoted as you get close to it. There is a large parking area, so, park, get out & enjoy. There is a nice restaurant at the Falls.

My last 50 rentals in the past 10 years at ZRH, I've always received a car with the vignette, albeit with Swiss plates. Next time request your rental with a Swiss plate.
