I agree VegasGambler. I wouldn't be surprised if some table players are magically comped to higher tiers.

I asked my host about this last weekend and he told me that with sufficient play, table games players indeed will be given higher tiers - surprisingly though, it won't be automatic. Based on our conversation, I get the feeling that it'll be more difficult than when it wasn't opaque, though.

I have a decent history with Cosmo at this point and have really enjoyed the Identity program although it seems to get more and more mysterious for me haha. I thought I'd share my experience with you all here.

My relationship with Cosmo started in March of 2014 when I attended a weeklong work training/conference at the property. I'm primarily a poker player but obviously Cosmo does not have a poker room. The proximity to Aria is very attractive for me as that is where I always play. In any event I joined the Identity program and did indulge in some slot play that trip, but nothing major. Shortly after the trip I started receiving offers for free nights or 3, match play etc. We went back a couple times in 2014 (total of 6 comped nights) and I also tried to eat/spend all my $ on property which propelled me to gold status.

Longer story short in Sept we will be going back for our 8th time in 2 years. I did a Delta mileage run in July and combined a comped night at Cosmo with it. Since I was super bored and didn't have the time or brainpower to play decent poker I super degen'd it up at the slots for the 24 hour period I was there. I went pretty hard. I didn't walk away a big winner or loser, maybe up 150 bucks, but I sure put a lotta dough through those machines. At least a lot for me.

Anyway I get home and next day I have an email from a Casino host telling me he's my guy for any and everything there now and let me know when I want to come back etc. I have not reached Platinum status yet, I'm not even sure if I'm close. I reached out and he comped 4 nights on Labor Day weekend for us. Looking at the rates for that weekend this is another great deal. He's also arranged a car to pick us up at the airport which is new perk that I'm pumped about. (I understand this perk comes with Plat).

Anyway, I'm not really sure what I've gotten myself into LOL. Obviously they are hoping I gamble heavy but realistically I will play minimal amounts but probably still spend decent at restaurants etc. Should my plan be to ramp up gambling in hopes my host might comp expenses? Like 400$ STK dinners? I have no problem going a litter harder if I might get some big comps like that but likely any gamble time I have will be spent at Aria playing poker. I don't want to ruin the good thing I have going, they comped me 5 nights during the WSOP and I'd love to do that again next year.

What happens when I don't gamble much this trip?

I appreciate accounts like this, but it would help me (and many of use to know) to get a feel for how much you gambled. $3/spin? less? more? for how long?

Sorry for lack of detail, I'm just a slot donkey so it's hard for me to really know. I would say my bet size is usually $1-4/spin. On a usual trip I might do something like that for an avg of an hour MAYBE 2 a day. For the mileage run trip I prob logged a solid 8-10 hours of this activity.

Ask your host if you have any F&B comp on top off the room comp. If your play isn't high enough to warrant an upfront F&B comp, he/she might mention backend comps to you. Backend comps is any comp you receive after they evaluate your play and your play "paid off" for the comps you already receive upfront. Never take advantage of a comp if you don't plan on playing at the same level as before, unless you don't care about your future offers or relationship with said host.

8-10 hours of slotting is some serious play time, especially if you're betting $3-4 a spin.

Yup it's amazing what hosts can do for you if you're a good client to them. When paid rates are $700+ or the hotel says they're sold out... the host tells you that he has a suite ready for you. :)

I wouldn't go that far - any offer voluntarily given or agreed to by a host is fair game. The OP was there for a 24-hour period and the host knows that it is what it is. Tossing out comps is no more than the carrot on a stick; it's just a part of developing players into bigger gamblers and trying to entice them to play more. It's not like a host is going to care much about a 4-night comp and benefits that are loyalty program freebies anyway.

What players shouldn't do is lie or mislead in order to increase comps. If the OP wants to disclose to the host that his play was unusual on that trip, he can feel free to do so. To believe that the host doesn't already understand that is pretty naive, though.

I've had this experience before with a host at one of the larger mLife properties. Maybe it's just dependent on the host.

I am a Marriott platinum going to Cosmo for 3 nights with a group. Booked 5 rooms in my name. So will spend abou $3000 on room charges and I pay for all rooms.
Do not have identity membership
What are your recommendation
Use Marriott number to get Marriott points or identity points?
Any tips to get any benefits this trip?

I just recently moved over from MLIFE to identity and have so far hit gold.

Could anyone provide insight into the best way to earn the ~17,000 additional points necessary to achieve platinum? Are slots/video poker significantly quicker to earn these and could anyone guesstimate on the amount I would need in such or table games to achieve this status?

Gold: 2 points for every $2.50 in on a Reel Slot, though only 1 of those will count toward the Plat tier.
All Levels: 1 point for every $6 in on VP

No points for table games. Well, you CAN change tier levels based on table games, but the specifics on what it takes aren't published. That likely means it's not as concrete as the Slot/VP play, so you might be better off sticking with that.

Just wondering if anything has changed? Staying next week for the first time.
