In general slot players (like me:p) get better offers than table game people. Also many of my offers come in the mail and are NOT listed on mlife.com.
PS: For many of my TR offers, they also come by mail and are not listed on harrahs.com--but harrahs makes booking rooms very easy.

Thanks for the info. Before, when you call PlayersClub, were they able to book comp rooms as well without an offer code or was an offer code necessary?

Steve,

Did you book your offer through a host or mlife.com?

I am rather disappointed with what I see at mlife.com. It was my first trip that I played heavy (in my opinion) at an MGM property (Aria). I stayed across the strip from Aria at PH since I get comp rooms automatically from TR. As from my previous post, I played about 9.5 hours for 3 days at about $350 per hand in baccarat (verified by a host). The host says she can comp me free rooms/limo etc but when I log into mlife.com, I see rooms available but are at a rate. Even rooms at lower end props charge me. I was hoping I can book free rooms, offers, etc like what I do sometimes with TR but even with my Gold status at MGM, I don't get free rooms automatically? I don't get it. Hopefully it will just take them time to update my account?

If I have to go through a host every time, I will probably just stick with my Diamond status at Caesars.

I usually go through a host at all MGM/Mirage properties. My card play trumps my slot play by a lot and I can usually ask a host for upgrade on what the offer says. Also, the old Players Club and new Mlife both dont seem to allow you to book rooms. I will agree that my play is less at TR, but yet I can get a compd suite there at any hotel at any time, booked through the website, with no hassles. lastly, I find play takes 2-3 months to update for comp rooms at either site.

With either Mlife or TR, you just give them your players number and they can look up all the offers, including ones not shown on the website.

My host(ess) have been able to get me comped rooms when I called, but I have found that having received a specific mailing makes things easier.
[Once MGM had an offer that had so many options that even with the mailing no one really understood what the conditions were.:)]

Thanks for the responses guys. Did the old Players Club give out shopping money, gift cards or cruises? I just really want to compare if mlife will give comps as good as TR's.

The reason why I hate going through a host is when I go with my GF, I don't really gamble as much as if I go by myself or with my friends. I don't want my host to give me a stink eye just because every other 3 trips I go, I don't play. With TR, I book rooms online if I was to go with my GF and rooms with my host when I plan to play big.

I asked my slot hostess at Caesars Palace whether it made a difference if I booked through her or on-line, she indicated it didn't make a difference.
In the MGM system (apparently) it does, my slot hostess at Mandalay Bay said she gets "credits" when she does the booking, ditto for Monte Carlo.

Interesting. When I use to book stuff through my hostess from Caesars, she always told me to tell her any of my friends that were coming with me that had a TR card. She told me that she would get credit for them even if they don't book a room but just use their TR card.

1) Never believe anything a host tells you
2) Usually it takes three trips booked by a host before you are "coded" to them. So it matters the first three trips, then it doesn't.
3) Female hosts are hosts, not hostesses.

I am quite dissapointed in mlife. I just called the players club and they told me that I only have discounted rooms and that I would have to wait until next quarter to receive any other offers. Keep in mind, it was my first time using my card coming over from TR and I spent 10 hours avg 350$ per bet. The host said she can comp me this and that but I was hoping I could get comp rooms the easy way like with my TR.

new info re mlife

I started the year with 784k+ tier points (=mlife pts), played the weekend of 1/20-23 at Mandalay Bay and Bellagio and ended with 825k+ pts. I just checked my acct and it shows 744k+--why the sudden decrease. I got shuttled around to a few agents until I spoke to someone who knew: as you earn points they roll off the acct after 12 months, so even though the mlife system just started the tier points total actually is cumulative for 12 months back. Status In MLIFE, once earned, is good for 1 year from that date.
[In Harrahs system you retain status (once earned) until March of the following year--but on 1/1 of each year your base points get reset to 0].
PS: That I had to speak with several agents before I got an answer signals (to me) that they did not plan the MLIFE system too well.:td:

This Mlife article in Vegas Tripping might be of interest to some.

Slot play may have the most objectively measurable negative impact, but I find it hard to believe anyone really thinks slot players are the ones hurt most by the leadup to/rollout of mlife and other various comp changes over the last 8-9 months or so.

Thing is though, we'd need to have an accurate comp valuation system in place before trying to do website comps, at least in the current form. The determination of so-called "expresscomps" is a joke for table players, so as it is, you'd have to go through a host to get anything meaningful anyway.

This 12-month rolling qualification period has been in the FAQ on the mlife website, btw.

It looks like (from the published list) the "tier privileges" are nothing to write home about. Jump the queue a few times ? That's it ?

To my understanding you can see and measure the comps available from logged play - this any player's club employee can do - but it's up to the host, with a certain amount of discretion, as to what else they can comp you (RFB etc)

I have about 10 hours of BJ logged at just over $100 a hand, which I understand is good enough for a few days of RFL. Have not followed through on that yet, though...

COMPS are Much Less

Back in Vegas again. I posted last month a bit about Mlife at Aria. This time I am at Monte Carlo in a Monaco suite (finally updated). My play last night consisted of a mix of slots and BJ. I checked this morning and my BJ play was 3hrs 5 min at an average bet of $350. That play yielded $81 in ExpressComps. Since I am now supposed to use those comps for meals, shows, etc and not get anything more from my host, I would say those pretty much suck. Of course, it really doesn't matter much when figuring comps, but between 2 MGM casinos last night I lost $9500 on BJ and slots. $81???? Hmmmmm. Once again, the time, play and comps were all verified today.

Table players (with decent action) should still get discretionary comps.

What did your host say, when you asked for charges to be covered?

Funny. Asked that question last night. 12% of comps go to express comps. I had another $100 in discretionary comps. I assume the rest are used for future RFB offers.
