mlife (mgm) questions
When I log onto my "mlife" acct. my point total is listed at over 780,000, and I'm listed as Platinum. They do NOT explain at mlife.com how this total is arrived at, nor how your "comp" balance is computed.
I'm expecting the "official" mailing (I'm away from home now) and haven't read it. Has anyone who did receive it know if the system is described in more detail than what one reads on the internet? From another thread in this forum there is supposed to be a higher tier than Platinum, but the web site does not list it--is Plat. the highest? |
I have no idea how it is calculated either. I haven't picked up my Platinum card mailing yet but when I do I'll check if there's anything in there about how it's calculated.
The top level in mlife is "noir", so add MGM to the long list of companies attempting to capitalize on "black card" marketing. It is an invite-only tier reserved for the biggest losers in the system. Be glad you're not in that tier. To be honest I'm done with the MGM family anyway. They're just losing too much money on City Center and are cutting anywhere and everywhere they can. I've played almost exclusively at Bellagio for 5 years and as I mentioned previously in other threads, my comps at Bellagio have been terrible since last March or so - this despite having my highest ADT ever - and a host admitted to me last summer that they had been instructed by execs to slash comps. |
Ya..I could care less about the new comps system, but I would like to know if I can just pull up at the bellagio while'st staying elsewhere and stroll to the front of the line..
|
Does this provide anything for those of us who don't gamble? I spend alot in Las Vegas hotels and restaurants but don't really gamble... was wondering if it was worth signing up for. Thanks

Earn Tier Credits for playing slots and table games. Receive 10 Tier Credits for every $2 of coin-in on reel and video slot machines or $10 of coin-in on video poker and specialty games. Your Tier Credits for playing table games accumulate according to length of play, average bet, and game type. For example, get rated at $25 per hand in blackjack for one hour and you will receive 550 Tier Credits. |
someone on vegastripping said 1.6mm is still plat
id assume there is a set figure for noir though why all these things have to have such inflated numbers ill never understand "later this year" for mgm including room/total spend |
heading into vegas tomorrow..will answer my own question I guess and post result here..
|
I have now received my MLIFE packet--which doesn't say all that much about the full system--however, in a sub-sub-(sub:p) menu on MLIFE.COM, there is a grid showing advantages of the various tiers. Except for one or two items, platinum and gold yield pretty much the same perks--one plus of these is special lines at buffets etc.
Nowhere is the status NOIR mentioned (at least Harrahs acknowledges the existence of SEVEN STARS in printed brochures and elsewhere). I'll be in LAS this coming weekend and try to get more info from the (Players Club)=MLIFE desk. |

I'll be in LAS this coming weekend and try to get more info from the (Players Club)=MLIFE desk. However, it should not be difficult for you to glean some information this weekend about noir and the other aspects of mlife. All hosts, pit bosses, floor managers, as well as a lot of related service staff have all done MGM's mlife training sessions. |

gengar, thanks for clarifying. heard anything about room/total spend earn rates? i might be interested in gold, depending. (grazie gold at $6K seems reasonable.)
noir was mentioned in various mgm stock presentations and whatnot. |

BK - If you have some other secret way of qualifying for Gold @ 1.5k, please share! :) But with their current stance on comps, that's made Grazie a lot less appealing. I don't have the math skills/patience to compare the return rates at the various comp programs to see where Grazie currently fits. IIRC, they had a pretty good conversion rate from points back into cash or free play. |

I'm pretty sure it's only $1.5k of spend IF you're already a gold. Otherwise it looks like it's $6k of things billed to your suite. Not sure if the suite itself counts.

And, yes, the suite rate (if you are not on a comp) would count towards the spend. But, as mentioned above, and I feel it's fair to repeat again : Why bother? GRAZIE GOLD has no value. I've been GRAZIE GOLD for a few years, and I'm trying to understand why anyone would be interested in this status. (or would consider $6K spend to be a good value for this status) While it has been diluted a bit, over the past few years, Caesars (Total Rewards) Diamond is a much more useful status than GRAZIE GOLD. |

I am MLife Platinum as well w/ just under 800K in "tier points". My question, which I have not been able to get an answer from Mlife.com, is "do my tier points get me anything other than my tier?" For instance, can I convert my 800K in points for something, or do my points just get me the benefits under the specific tier level?

[Harrahs uses base points for placing people in various tiers Diamond, Plat. etc. and these translate to comps, one point = $0.01, so maybe my computation above is not all that off.:p] |
Does anyone know if mlife will status match with Diamond or Gold Grazie? I'll be leaving tonight. THanks.

This Mlife article in Vegas Tripping might be of interest to some.

some "new" info on mlife
I just returned from las vegas and after reading the various booklets and speaking to "mlife" agents:
To reach Platinum (their highest "listed" level) you need 200,000 mlife points. Sapphire and Pearl (the two lowest levels), get one point for every $2 played on a non-poker slot; gold members get one point for every $1.75 and plats 1 point for every $1.50. Your mlife points = 10 x your (regular) points. [So you need 20,000 points to get to platinum level--why they couldn't just use 20,000 points instead of the multiplier by 10 is not clear:confused:] So to retain platinum status (if you are already platinum) if you play $30,000 in a year (@$1.50 per point) you will reach 20,000 points. Express Comps: (similar to Harrahs rewards credits), for each 1 point earned you get $0.02 in express comps, which can be used to pay for most hotel amenities (except tips). [A platinum member would get to use at least 20,000 x 0.02 = $400 of these in a year.] Harrahs requires 11,000 base points (1 point = $5 played), hence a minimum of $55,000/year to retain diamond status. Accumulating rewards (comp) credits varies by locale, in las vegas, generally (once you get over 500 base tier credits in a day) the tier credits are multiplied by 4. In Atlantic City the multiplier seems to be around 1.5--but almost every day is a multiplier day somewhere varying from 3x to as much as 150x. There are supposed to be special lines at the buffets for gold and plats in mlife, at Bellagio, the line at the buffet is still marked "invited" guests, when I used that line with only my mlife plat card (since there were no waiting lines at when I got there) I couldn't tell if they were honoring my card. There are NO special lines at the casino cages, players club (mlife) for plats and NO platinum lounges--so Harrahs is one up on them for these perks. [My offers in the mgm group have generally included free food credit, some of them still do but others may now be expecting me to use my Express Comps.] They claim you can book offers directly at the mlife.com site, but I couldn't get that to work. |

Please make sure to report back with what you learned! :p
By the end of my trip, I logged in about 9.5 hours at Aria playing baccarat. I now have about 95,000 tier points and a Gold card with mlife. I am waiting to see what I can do online via vs a host. I hope I can book offers/free rooms, etc through mlife like what I do with TR. |
I also just got back from Aria. I am a platinum tier player. As a special invite for mlife, they gave me $23 in ExpressComps...wahoo!, 1/6 of 1 bet.
I was just there for 2 nights, both comp'd with $200 in freeplay and 2 buffets. I played 7hrs, 36 minutes 6 deck BJ at $136/bet (verified by players club). My BJ play is by the book with regard to strategy and betting. I also played various slots and accumulated 1900 old style points. This play was awarded $117 in Express Comps. I also had no resort fees, but I am not sure if they were comp'd prior or under some secret Express Comp system. So, hopefully this helps those who want to calculate their comps. I go to Vegas about every month, my play is usually 4-6hrs BJ per day for 3 days at $100-$200. Usually I never ask for additional comps as I am a burger and beer guy and would rather not have the "put it on your room and we shall see" hanging over me. I like the Express Comps. Even though it is obvious they are paying less, I see them accumulate, can spend them how I like, and they accumulate over time. |
Played at NYNY.
Presented old style card. Never got it back. Pit boss came back later with the new M Life card. At least at NYNY, even though had the free slot play and a 2 night comp stay, NYNY still charged the resort fee. |

I am rather disappointed with what I see at mlife.com. It was my first trip that I played heavy (in my opinion) at an MGM property (Aria). I stayed across the strip from Aria at PH since I get comp rooms automatically from TR. As from my previous post, I played about 9.5 hours for 3 days at about $350 per hand in baccarat (verified by a host). The host says she can comp me free rooms/limo etc but when I log into mlife.com, I see rooms available but are at a rate. Even rooms at lower end props charge me. I was hoping I can book free rooms, offers, etc like what I do sometimes with TR but even with my Gold status at MGM, I don't get free rooms automatically? I don't get it. Hopefully it will just take them time to update my account? If I have to go through a host every time, I will probably just stick with my Diamond status at Caesars. |

(Before mlife.com they claimed that booking a room on playersclub.com was possible, except for one or two promos that didn't work either.) In general slot players (like me:p) get better offers than table game people. Also many of my offers come in the mail and are NOT listed on mlife.com.

Thanks for the info. Before, when you call PlayersClub, were they able to book comp rooms as well without an offer code or was an offer code necessary?

[Once MGM had an offer that had so many options that even with the mailing no one really understood what the conditions were.:)] |
Thanks for the responses guys. Did the old Players Club give out shopping money, gift cards or cruises? I just really want to compare if mlife will give comps as good as TR's.
The reason why I hate going through a host is when I go with my GF, I don't really gamble as much as if I go by myself or with my friends. I don't want my host to give me a stink eye just because every other 3 trips I go, I don't play. With TR, I book rooms online if I was to go with my GF and rooms with my host when I plan to play big. |

1) Never believe anything a host tells you
2) Usually it takes three trips booked by a host before you are "coded" to them. So it matters the first three trips, then it doesn't. 3) Female hosts are hosts, not hostesses. QL |
I am quite dissapointed in mlife. I just called the players club and they told me that I only have discounted rooms and that I would have to wait until next quarter to receive any other offers. Keep in mind, it was my first time using my card coming over from TR and I spent 10 hours avg 350$ per bet. The host said she can comp me this and that but I was hoping I could get comp rooms the easy way like with my TR.

new info re mlife
I started the year with 784k+ tier points (=mlife pts), played the weekend of 1/20-23 at Mandalay Bay and Bellagio and ended with 825k+ pts. I just checked my acct and it shows 744k+--why the sudden decrease. I got shuttled around to a few agents until I spoke to someone who knew: as you earn points they roll off the acct after 12 months, so even though the mlife system just started the tier points total actually is cumulative for 12 months back. Status In MLIFE, once earned, is good for 1 year from that date.
[In Harrahs system you retain status (once earned) until March of the following year--but on 1/1 of each year your base points get reset to 0]. PS: That I had to speak with several agents before I got an answer signals (to me) that they did not plan the MLIFE system too well.:td: |
