You get that with platinum too. You skip lines at taxi stands and restaurants.
Another benefit of Noir is free VIP access to the nightclubs (ex. Hakkasan, Hyde, etc.). You don't pay cover like you do with Plat (?). |

Plats only get to cut the lines at the buffets and cafes while Noirs get to cut any line.

Noir and Platinum seem to have the same benefits at nightclubs, at least according to what's published on the MGM website. When I wanted to go to Hakkasan, my host set me up and my whole group (10 people) skipped the line and walked right in, so it's kind of irrelevant. Anyone who has Noir is a much bigger player than I am, so if I can get it from my host, they can get it from theirs, and probably a complimentary table with bottle service too. That is really the thing about the Noir benefits -- for most of them, it's just something that your host would get you anway (even if you are not Noir) More Plat and Noir line-cutting: Some sportsbooks have a platinum and noir only line. This is really useful when you want to make some football bets at 9:40am. |

Honestly I rarely eat at those places so I'm not completely sure, but the only place that I ever have to wait in line is Starbucks (I wish I had line-cutting there). The only place that I've ever seen a line that you could cut with Noir but not with Plat was VIP ticketing when they have a major event at MGM. That can really be a mess, especially when they have two events the same weekend.

I know they do not at MGM unless it changed recently, which is why I usually end up watching games in CET casinos (they have special lines set up based on status and sometimes betting amount). |

I have not had a problem cutting nightclub lines, but Plats are supposedly free at the on site Light run clubs. In my experience, they do not honor it without badgering except 1Oak, where I have never had a problem.

I think at nightclubs, you can get in without cover if nothing special is going on. But if they have a famous DJ that they are selling tickets for, you won't get in with just the card. A call from your host will probably do the trick though.
At Mandalay Bay they have a special Plat/Noir window. Everyone ignores the sign and uses it, but, when it's busy, there will be guy in a suit at the front of the line directing traffic to free windows (which really speeds things up). If you just walk up to him and flash your card he will put you next up (similar to how things work at the taxi stand). At MGM I know that they have a special window for $10k+ bets, but nothing for Noir/Plat. I have not been to all the other m-life properties' sportsbooks, so I don't know if they have special lines/windows anywhere else, or if it's just Mandalay Bay. |

Of course, no play history, and NOIR doesn't get you a heck of a lot. |

Not necessarily. Through an MGM/Hyatt arrangement; I know of a number of people who were "comp'ed" NOIR status over the past year.
Of course, no play history, and NOIR doesn't get you a heck of a lot. According to this: http://hyatthotels.hyatt.com/content...ort/mlife.html the highest matched status that you can get is m-life Platinum, for Hyatt Diamond members. I matched the other way (unfortunately my m-life Platinum only gets me hyatt Platinum, not Diamond) Neither one is willing to give their highest tier away... |

I am a newbie to this whole Mlife thing -- I was matched to Platinum by my Hyatt status (please no haters! :) )
I have a trip planned to Vegas for a buddy's 40th birthday. My mlife balance is zero so I'm not sure we will get the full benefit of my newly found Platinum status. Looking online at Mlife.com -- the hotel 'deals' don't seem that much better than what I could find elsewhere online. Any suggestions on how to get a larger suite (1 or 2 bedroom at Aria/Vdara/MGM?) at the best rate? All the talk about a "host" -- is this even something I can hope to benefit from if I have no gambling history on my mlife account? Trying to max out my newly found status but I'm not sure what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated. |
Hosts are assigned to mid-level and higher gamblers -- it has nothing to do with tier level. Unless you play at a level of about $100 per hand on table games, or dollar or higher slots for a reasonable amount of time, you won't get a host.
Your platinum status will get you a small discount on the rooms, although you could probably get similar discounts through deals that they run all the time. You can't expect to get anything comped beyond what your gambling justifies -- again, tier is irrelevant here. This is what you will get from your platinum card: 1. You can skip lines at taxi stands, buffets, cafes, etc. This can be a big deal. If you want to eat at the Bellagio buffet during a peak time, for example, the wait can be half an hour or longer. You can go right to the front. 2. You can get into some places for free. Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, Art Gallery at Bellagio, Dolphin Habitat at Mirage (possibly others too). If you are there during pool season, you and a guest can get into Moorea at Mandalay Bay for free (adults-only "toptional" pool). Men usually have to pay $50 / $35 cover for weekends / weekdays (ladies are always free) 3. 15% discount at almost all retail stores in m-life casinos. This includes the shops by the elevator if you want to buy a couple of bottles of water or whatever to take up to your room. Just show your card. 4. Front-of-the-line-access at any Light Group Owned nightclub or pool. I'm not sure if you can avoid cover too (the webpage is not clear -- it just says "VIP Access") 5. A free cruise every year! This has nothing to do with Vegas, but it's worth mentioning. There is some more stuff mentioned here: https://www.mlife.com/pages/preferred_partners.html but I think I got the main ones. If you do gamble, you will get a 30% bonus to freeplay and express comps earned from your play. Express comps can be applied to your bill upon checkout, or to pay for stuff directly. Using them to pay for some things directly (eg, Starbucks) will prevent them from charging sales tax on the purchase (this does not work for restaurants -- I'm not quite sure what the rules are there) If you do gamble, but not at the level to get your own host, check out at the player's club desk (not at the front desk). Ask them what they can comp off your bill. The guy will call the on-call host, who will be able to apply your express comps to your bill, and possibly some extra, depending on how much you played. I'm not sure what your budget (if any) for gambling is, so it's difficult for me to be more specific than this. |

Has anyone used the free cruise benefit? In the flyer they sent earlier in the year the fine print said that it wasn't an option for those that got their status via match. |

I didn't match in that direction so I'm not too sure of the details. I used my m-life platinum to get hyatt status. |

Based on your post and what I'm reading elsewhere online, I will likely have to settle for the inherent/soft benefits of mlife platinum -- I'm not a huge gambler (I've budgeted about $500 for gambling) so I don't anticipate racking up too many comp dollars/points. Even the soft benefits of platinum will likely come in handy so I won't expect too much with my mlife status. Thanks again. |
