Elite 20k

Hey all. Long time lurker.

I've been working my tail off to earn Elite 20k after signing up for the Barclays card back in September. So far I have 19,616 status miles (384 short). The thing is my credit card billing cycle ends on Jan 21st, and from what I understand if I don't earn the Elite 20k by December 31st then my miles reset to 0. Am I right about that?

Any advice on how to earn the remaining 384 status miles?

E.g. Can I pay down a balance on my CC before my billing cycle ends? Would that do it?

Thanks in advance!!

Someone posted on Facebook group about a similar problem. She was going to talk to Barclays bank about changing her statement date to 12/31. You are so close, if you cant get the 400 points from credit card, I would book the shortest and cheapest possible flight to take before 12/31. if you dont have discount den, buy the ticket at the counter.

Awful. I called Barclays just now. They advised that I cant change the billing cycle that quickly. It takes a full cycle to go into effect. And paying the card balance doesnt do anything.

And Im not sure how practical taking a flight would be on such short notice.

QQ would I need to complete the flight to get the miles. Or just book it? Im guessing complete it. Because I already have some frontier flights in Feb.

Thanks!

Or what about buying the flowers or something else from the Partners? They are advertising 1,500 miles if you buy the flowers. Or are those bonus miles and not status miles?

Most airlines won't count miles from things like the flowers toward status. Frontier also has rental car partners, but again I'd be surprised if miles there counted toward status. From ATL you could do a same-day turn on a short haul like the Florida flights and get it pretty cheap if it's a lower-demand day, but if your city is a spoke with only longer hauls to DEN or LAS or maybe MCO then the choices might not be as good. Before I got some retroactive credits coming through I'd made it by 84 points, and that was only because they'd cancelled my PHX-ATL flight and I'd rebooked to PHX-LAS-ATL. I didn't know at the time that that would put me over the top.

20k is super valuable. Where are you based out of? I was an idiot and ended with 19,850 miles. I'm taking an MCO-CLT routing for $90 booked a week out. Just grab something similar...a flight to/from Denver, Vegas, Orlando, maybe Phoenix that's cheap to get your 20k.
