Frontier Needs to Fix This Behavior
Like most, I've seen some seriously nasty behaviour as more people return to flying. Perhaps some didn't fly much in the Before Times, but they are all certainly flying now. I've seen bad behaviour on my own flights, and read these almost daily events about Frontier and other U.S. airlines.
I felt the need to post as I note that according to this report, Frontier crew were suspended.
Read Jon Ostrower's tweet. Exactly right.
Then the tweet he linked from Sam Sweeney with the video from onboard. (Sam covers transportation for ABC). He also tweets about the crew suspensions.
While I was not there, this would not be the first time crew have had to tape up a "misbehaving or drunk" pax.
Seems to me airlines have 2 choices. Stop flying or start forcing pax to sign legal docs prior to boarding. Or at least stop letting people fly while stupid. Is there a better solution?
Jon's tweet includes the video of the "adventure".
and
I also agree with some of the comments as to what were the crew supposed to do.

The suspension is justified.
Generally, when a crewmember has experienced an incident, the airline would impose a suspension. The suspension serves as 2 purposes - for investigation and mental recovery (counseling). The suspension is not imposed as a matter of right or wrong (as suspension is usually with pay).

Some interesting points in Gary's column including:
"Normal procedure may well be a suspension for the flight attendants, but procedure ought to be to give them combat pay."
Some really funny comments below the column as well.

The FAs should be given a bonus and paid vacation to deal with the trauma. Suspension is inexcusable.
The perp is lucky he was only duct taped. I know more than a few travelers who would have beat him senseless.
To this OP I do not see how this is at all attributable to the carrier. Bad behavior happens on all airlines worldwide. Most stems from overconsumption of alcohol, as was the case here. The only solution is to deny boarding and deny alcohol to individuals that are intoxicated

And Jon Ostrower was also right in his tweet, that bad behaviour existed in the old days but no one had phones and cameras to record it all and share it almost instantly with the world.
I certainly agree with you that on this flight, that guy had way too much to drink (and no one yet knows how much he may have had before he boarded).
It seems airlines are struggling with what to do with pandemic pax. No one is testing them before boarding to see if they are in any condition to fly (and I'm sure there are some U.S. or state laws preventing this). Some airlines have refused to serve any alcohol in coach for now. Doesn't matter, people are loading up at bars in airports. Some are carrying their own onboard.
I certainly don't blame Frontier. The exact same idiocy has been on exhibit on all the other airlines and in a number of airports. I posted this thread because it bothered me that the crew were suspended. It may be airline protocol, but it looks bad when they were the ones who had to find a solution and with limited resources while the flight was in the air.

I'm sure that's going to help in his court appearance.
