The Good News: The schedule is finally up!
The Bad News: There are no low-level award flights ANYWHERE
even during the low season between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hopefully they'll be loading those later but I was really hoping to snag award flights for Thanksgiving.

Any ideas when the schedule will be extended again?
It currently goes to October 26 2016. I'd expect an extension soon.
Southwest currently goes out to November 4. On June 2, 2016 they will open their schedule for sale through January 4, 2017.

Well, Southwest Airlines has been moved up from June. A new schedule extension date is on May 19, 2016 for 11/05/16 to 01/04/17.

Spirit duz the same thing. All so they can claim the $15 award booking fee is "optional," when in many situations it isn't because you didn't get a 6+ month window.

Well here is it mid-June and still nothing. I check a couple times each day as we have a December itinerary in mind and hope to beat Southwest's fare. These two airlines are our only non-stop options...

Same. We are flying end of October though, so we are very nearly within 4 months. That is just ridiculous.

Outrageous Opening Day Pricing?
I am not super familiar with Frontier. In the past, it hasn't really had the routes we have needed from our preferred home airport to our destinations. However, due to a wedding, we will be going to a different location that has us looking at Frontier as an option.
Prior to 10/26, the fares are relatively reasonable, about what we expected them to be. From 10/27 on, fares are in the 300-400-500 EACH WAY price range. Is it normal for prices to be so high opening day, then they will decrease later on? I am just not familiar with the Frontier formula, so looking for some expertise here.

You don't say when you need to travel if it's during the holiday travel period they may hold holiday pricing but after the first of the year and possibly in parts of November and December I expect to see much lower fares.
