Post Frontier Carry On Question...

Quick Question FT'rs, can the 'personal item' carry on at no charge be a suitcase which will fit under the seat? Only that item with me and nothing else.

TIA - bo1953

it could work. 95% i get on board with a backpack that doesn't fit the dimension requirements. They've only made me measure once. But with a backpack, it's a little more discreet.

Just be sure to be aware, if you gamble and lose and they make you Gate Check it, it will cost you $50 ($60 after 5/1/15) vs $30 (or $25 for Discount Den members which is currently free to all Early Return Frequent Flyer members).

Once you pass the gate agent you are safe as long as there is overhead space. I often find it depends on the GA.

Keep in mind that the personal item dimensions are 14 x 18 x 8 inches, and they have personal item sizers at the airport. If your entire bag can't fit inside that, they will call it a carryon.
