surcharge?

I was price checking my tix from FLL to DEN and I noticed a surcharge. Is that new? I haven't noticed that before.
Thank you

Not sure what to make of it, and I don't recall seeing it before.

I wonder if it might be part of the juggling with the tax/no tax fare adjusments? A couple of markets I've been watching closely in the past few days suggest this. Today's grand-total fare is the same as last week (before the temporary tax holiday) but the base fare shown is lower than last week or this weekend.

Yes I have been watching too and my fare has actually gone up and down the past couple of days??
Right now it is the same when including this surcharge? So annoying. I am buy three tix. So mad at myself that I didn't buy a few weeks back. I was $100 less a tix. I am crossing my fingers it goes does tomorrow...Tuesday.

The FAA can't come back and collect these taxes retroactively, right? That wouldn't be what the surcharge is for, right?

The surcharge amount is lower than the taxes would be, so I'm guessing not.

Immediately after Frontier was no longer reducing the all-in fare to reflect the temporary suspension of the federal tax, the surcharge appeared. It's a flat $3.70 per person, on each one-way, no matter if it's a direct flight or connecting.

The surcharge is defined as "Fuel, Security, Peak or Miscellaneous Surcharge."
