Is stretch seating generally available when checking in?

I have never flown Frontier before. We are looking at a flight DTW-DEN-SNA in Feb, with Classic fare. My husband is very tall and needs the stretch seating. With UA and Delta those seats can be reserved at the time of booking (exit rows for Delta with Medallion status). F9 flights are much cheaper, but, as I understand the website, the stretch seating cannot be reserved until check-in with Classic fare. If we check in 24 hours ahead of the flight time, are those seats likely to be available, or already taken by summits/ascents? We would not want to fly F9 if he cannot get the extra legroom.

A Classic Plus fare will get you a STRETCH seat at time of booking. It comes with all the perks of Classic, plus STRETCH seating,

Whenever I fly F9 I always wait until I get to the airport to check-in and Stretch seats are always still available. Having said this, you should realize that's not a guarantee. Also, if it helps, I'm 6'5" and I don't find the regular seats to be that bad at all, if you don't happen to get Stretch. I think you will like Frontier, have a good trip!

Stretch is only available in advance to Summit members (not Ascent) and to people who buy the Classic Plus fare at frontierairlines.com. So it's not likely to be full at 24:01 before departure time. However if you want to do the paid upgrade at check in, it might be safest to upgrade a online check in 24 hours ahead.

I think there's a good chance that at airport check in there may be Stretch available, too. But I'd say your odds of having it entirely pre-reserved is rather small.

In my experience they have always been available even on sold out flights. They do fill up though, as Knope said, the best bet is to online check-in as soon as possible.

They aren't available to Ascent members in advance? Do you just choose the stretch seating at check-in and not get charged? Just made Ascent status (though still not showing it due to a bug with their system.)

As I understood it they offer upgrades to Ascent members at the gate if there are seats left.
