Do other airlines?

Prices are subject to inventory and market prices. Closer to travel dates the prices will increase if inventory is limited. The price goes higher if other airlines are also pricing high. This all depends on when you are traveling.

Most F9 planes fill up closer to travel dates so I wouldn't say the prices are much higher than other airlines unless you are traveling during busy periods.

typically, advance fares are structured as 3/7/14/21-day, however it's all subject to availability. not all airlines and routes offer these tiers. it's also a myth that the greater the advance purchase, the cheaper the fare.
revenue management is not as black and white as it could be.
