Frontier Upgrade ABQ????? Please reply with commments

Do you think that Frontier will ever upgrade ABQ back to an A318 from a RJ? ABQ was one of there very first destinations from the start so why do they slack on ABQ so much. Also do you think they will ever start ABQ to Mexico service (PVR or CUN please ^ )? They planned on doing this in the 1980's I believe but they stopped the service. Please tell me your thoughts.

F9 used to tag ELP on to their DEN-ABQ service. When F9 started serving ELP n/s from DEN, ABQ was downgraded to an RJ.

IIRC, F9 was flying the larger planes to ABQ back when they were still using Mesa as their RJ partner. These regional jets only held 50 and with the onward flight to ELP they need the greater capacity than 50. Currently, with the short length of the flight and the ease to get to Denver for connections I would not see a larger plane over the 70 seat CR7 any time soon. Based on the Feb T-100 the load factor was at 63%.

Regarding Mexico, I don't see enough O&D demand for that service currently. The Frontier of the 80's was a different company than the current Frontier Airlines.

As stated on the conference call for FY2005, ABQ will be getting Mainline service later this year. I expect this to start around 31AUG05.

When do you think F9 will publish this on there website, and I can start booking flights on Mainline.
