CDG to Beaune by train

What is the easiest way to get there?

Or should I just rent a car?

not sure what your flight times are or what else you're planning to do. we were faced with a similar situation. as far as I know, there's only one CDG-Beaune train, via Dijon, and that's early evening. or an early afternoon CDG-Lyon and back-track to Beaune. otherwise, it's the air france bus from CDG to Gare Lyon and train from there to Beaune via Dijon. We finally opted to rent a car and spend a couple of days seeing the countryside, staying in a couple of places over night and leisurely making our way to Beaune for a couple more days. i hope this helps.

and why wouldn't you take a TGV to Lyon/Dijon/Le Creusot and get a rental car from there?
when do you get in at CDG?

hi chrissxb,

we arrive at CDG around 11:00. i see there's a 13:00 TGV from CDG-Lyon, but that would then require a train change and back-track to get to Dijon/Le Creusot...isn't that right? the only non-stop CDG-Dijon I find is early evening. is there a different/better option? thank you.

actually this isn't exactly true, there are TGV's all day from Paris Gare de Lyon to Dijon, and some even go to Beaune. If not, all you have to do is get on a highly efficient TER train in Dijon and take a 30 minute ride. The French trains are the best in the world, especially the network from Paris. If you need to check schedules, the site to go on is voyages-sncf.fr. It is in French, but not too complicated to understand. Hope this helps

P.S, if you are flying on AF, they have a shuttle bus "les Cars Air France," which can take you to GDL for cheap....otherwise you are stuck taking the RER to Paris Nord or Chatelet and the Metro ligne 1 to GDL, this takes a while, so plan accordingly

Sorry to hijack this thread. I am arriving CDG on CO this Thursday morning at 7:45. I need to get to Le Havre. I would prefer not to rent a car. Can anyone tell me which train station I should go to to get a direct train to Le havre.
Thanks a lot.

Thank you, benzemalyonnais,

Yes, I had seen those options...but I was only interested in direct trains departing from CDG, and not having to go into Paris or back-track out of Lyon.

Thank you.

If going on the RER, I'd take the RER B to Chatelet\Les Halles and then the RER A to Gare de Lyon. Should be the other side of the platform.
