You get your passport stamped at Immigration, not Customs.

For some reason, they've stopped stamping passports automatically, but will do it if you ask. (I always ask, coming and going, in case I ever need to prove that I didn't overstay.)

Last time I arrived at CDG 2E, everything was very fast: tram from the gate to entry hall, no line to speak of at Immigration, had my luggage within 10 minutes of arrival at the baggage area.

Of course, the flight had arrived 6 hours late- perhaps we caught the one slack time of the day!

I enjoyed this feature a couple of weeks ago, although I had never seen it before at CDG. No wait at the Fasttrak, long lines at regular control.

As noted in a post above, they are now scanning all passports, and why all countries don't do that is a real mystery.

Whenever I reach an immigration officer at CDG, I always ask, "J'aimerais un compost pour souvenir, SVP." They always oblige. ^

Not so upon arrival at GVA. The Swiss immigration officer gave me shrug and waved me through
