Help with CDG Arrivals

I will be landing at CDG on a United flight from Dulles. I will be meeting a friend arriving on an American flight from JFK. After meeting we will need to travel into Paris (near Luxembourg). Where should we arrange to meet at CDG? I have heard bad things about getting around CDG and would appreciate any advice for making this meet-up as easy as possible.

Thanks!

Welcome to FT !

With the advent of the VAL (automated metro) between CDG terminals, things are much more easy than in the past. As you will go to Luxembourg, you need to take the RER suburban train to Paris. I would recommend that you take the VAL (8mn) from CDG1 to CDG2 and arrive above the TGV/RER railway station, while your friend walks within the terminal building from CDG 2A through CDG 2C to the same railway station (10mn).

When you arrive above the station, I would recommend that you meet in the Sheraton lobby:
- nice comfortable seats in the lobby and a business centre
- pleasant bar for a coffee, drink or snack
- restaurant for buffet breakfast, lunch or dinner

I arrived at CDG for my first time ever Saturday morning. We had a nice walk from the American terminal to the RER station and then caught the train into Paris. The signs were well placed, multilingual and the people very friendly.
Except for the fact that I finally crashed around 730pm and now up at 3am Paris time, I'm LOVING my first day here
Best of luck meeting your friend at the airport. Speaking from my first experience it seemed very easy to navigate CDG
