My wife & I are travelling PHL-CDG on 4/17. It's our first trip to Paris and we're looking for suggestions on getting from the airport to the Marriott Champs Elysees (staying on points - couldn't afford it otherwise!). Also, would like to know the approximate cost associated with any suggestions.

Welcome to FT.

Search this forum for "shuttle". There is debate over best and worst, but most will get you from CDG to central Paris alive for around 20 euros a person each way. There are other options, both cheaper and more costly, but I found the shuttle route to be a good compromise due to unfamiliarity and luggage.

Take one of the Air France coaches from the airport. Line 2 goes to Champs Elyses at the Arc de Triomphe. Price 12 each person.

The price is certainly right (according to their web site, 10 euros one way or 17 euros round trip--do they need to update their prices, cph_flyer?), but that leaves them almost 1 kilometer (a 15-20 minute walk) from the Marriott. That's fine if they're feeling up to it but not that much fun if hauling a lot of luggage. I'm not sure that Parisian taxis would take them for such a short distance, either; they tend to refuse such trips.

The best option for door-to-door is a taxi or a shuttle. Be aware that some (though not all, fortunately!) of the shuttle companies' rates for two people are almost as much as a taxi.

All depends on how much you favor price over convenience.

Yes, the webpage needs to be updated! I have a brochure from sometime last year - it says 12 one way - 18 return.

I think taxis are nice enough in Paris. For the most part they are clean, new cars with honest drivers. I dont like the added layer of complication that a shuttle brings unless you are traveling alone where the savings could be more significant. If you do choose shuttle I suggest a pay when it shows policy. Pre-pay followed by no-show = major hassle.

I would either do taxi or if you are up to the walk the Air France bus as suggested by cph_flyer is a nice money saving alternative. The walk is all downhill but the side of the Champs-Elysees that the marriot is on tends to be crowded with tourists. I would be inclined to walk down the other side of the street and cross over near the hotel.
