I hear train takes a long time and the plane tickets on the major US airlines are like 170 bucks. I heard something about cheap flights in europe but anyone have advice?

Take the train if you want to save on a night's accomodation otherwise it's a long journey by day. The night train is called Artesia and there's several types of sleeping accomodation ranging from 6-berth couchettes (2nd class) to 4-berth couchettes in 1st Class. They're the cheapest options but nothing fancy (in fact the 1st couchettes are pretty dismal) The sleeping cars with proper beds are much better but of course more expensive. There's a restaurant for evening meals on the train and that's about it.
Several low cost airlines operate between the two cities but I can't remember which ones. I wouldn't take the train again because it was such a boring journey (by night).
