I've usually paid about 60 plus tip to and from CDG, but I assumed it could easily have been about 75 with the kind of congestion we had on the 29th...That said, something must have been screwed up with UBER. They have a flat fee for UberX of 50 from the left bank to or from CDG, and a flat fee of 45 euro to or from the right bank. Your friend must have taken Uber Berline which has flat fees of 80 and 75 respectively. Berline is the equivalent of Uber Black in the USA.

Spent a few weeks in Paris last fall and used uber 2-4x a day every day.
Used it from the airport to the Opera area and there isn't much savings over a regular taxi, just a few euro. Around town the prices all seemed reasonable. I'm not sure if it is that much savings over a traditional cab but the convenience sure was worth it even if it was only close to even.
Never had to wait more than about 5-6 minutes for an Uber even in the middle of the night and cars were always clean and nice and drivers professional.
Going there next week and planning to just Uber all the time. I don't normally shy away from places after terrorist things but I'm bringing the family and avoiding crowded metro stations might be prudent for a bit.

It's €50 Right bank, €55 Left bank....
One thing to be careful in Paris-- make sure you are ordering an UberX and not an Uber Black... plenty of people don't pay attention (lots of friends of mine--even French friends-- have overpaid not knowing)...clearly a problem with the default Uber settings.

We used Uber 2-3x per day during our recent visit to Paris. Always excellent service from very friendly drivers, at 1/2 the price of taxis. The only issue was occasional surge pricing (e.g. Thurs night in Paris, late Afternoon In Versailles.). Many short trips were only 5 euros and far quicker than metro (also cheaper for 4pp). Also ordered a van from Hyatt CDG this morning - nice Mercedes arrived within 5 min and cost was 22 euros. My only regret was not calling Uber when we arrived at Gare du Nord, where we waited 45m in a taxi line.
