Paris Day Trips

We have an apartment in Paris which we visit several times a year. Have gotten to know Paris pretty well ... but would be interested in taking some day trips that are fun and interesting (not Normandy). Any ideas?!

THANKS!

Did you try doing a search before posting?
"Paris day trips" yields multiple recent threads, including this one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/franc...ide-paris.html with links to several others included.

As you've likely done Versailles, Chartres and other major sights it seems like you seeking alternate options a little less touristy but high on interest factor and so will share a few thoughts.

I had asked about visiting Vaux Le Vicomte in this thread and ultimately did visit the chateau and enjoyed a nice early Summer afternoon visit, though the dome of the chateau was under repair and marred it's renown beauty.

In the same thread however there were other ideas I almost opted for including Fontainebleau and Blandy Les Tours which along with Auvers-sur-Oise I'm sure I'll find time for next visit to Paris.

I hope the ideas help.

Numerous new museums have opened recently (or will open soon) and are less than 3 hours by TGV:
- Louvre Lens
- Metz Centre Pompidou
- MuCEM in Marseille (with other cultural events as European cultural capital).

Corsica, the gem of Mediterranean sea, is less than 2 hours flight from Paris.

L'ile de Beauté offers superb lanscapes, great food (but poor accomodations, with some exception). Definitely an excellent choice (out of July and August period).
