Angry SOS! Lost camera in Paris

This trip has to be the luckiest one in my entire life. At the end of a long line of unfortunate happenings, I've just lost my camera -- that had trip photos from Lisboa, Goteberg, Paris (just these few hours ago) and other places. I *think* I might have the earlier photos somewhere on my laptop, but these last 3 are completely new. In addition, there were perhaps also some extremely rare cockpit photos!

I've either put down the camera at Hard Rock Cafe (just under the white Bono T-shirts in the store); or beside a seat on the Paris metro, either Grands Boulevards on line 8 or 9, or Strasbourg Saint-Denis on line 4.

The camera itself is a Panasonic Lumix compact, with a distinctive whitish/translucent case on the outside.

Really really wonder what chances I might have of getting it back -- the photos are irreplaceable as I travel alone, and these aren't destinations I would be flying to again.

Would anyone be able to help?

One solution: The Department of Lost and Found Police Headquarters, 36 rue des Morillons, Paris 15th.
Metro: Convention.
Tel: 0.821.00.25.25
Open continuously from Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Responsible for collecting items gathered in Paris, in the three surburb departments and the Roissy and Orly airports.

Each day, 600-700 items arrive in this service from individuals, the RATP, department stores, museums, taxis and other departments of the inner suburbs (92, 93 and 94).

Before going to the Lost and founds Department, the first thing is to try to remember the presumed location of the loss and try to get there.

If you have lost something in the street within five days, contact the nearest police station.

If you have lost something in the subway or bus within 24 hours, ask at the metro station.

If you have lost something in a taxi, try to call the taxi (phone and identification number of the taxi on the bill).

Good luck!
