USA Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
Call or text 988
Available 24 hours everyday

Statements of suicidal ideation, both direct or indirect (“I think it would be so much easier for everyone if I just died”) should be considered as serious and followed up on.
People who are fascinated with the details of others’ suicide should be followed up on.
People expressing feelings of despair, helplessness, hopelessness and powerlessness should be followed up on.
Following up can mean asking questions to probe intent or plans,
and encouraging the person reach out for professional help.
Expressions of concern, support for positive action are helpful.

Keep them coming!

I will be absent (again) for a few days, but may change this into a WikiPost for ease of updating and sharing the ability to add / drop / modify information.

In the United States, many cities, counties and local non-profits also have established crisis lines that can be accessed as well. Many of these lines, as well as suicide prevention lines can provide information on where those left behind by suicide can find help and support.

A recommended site in Germany is

http://www.telefonseelsorge.de
  • Telefon (as below)
  • 0800/1110111
  • 0800/1110222
Has chat capabilities, etc.

If you are, or know a teen who is, contemplating suicide or in crisis:

Canada

We really don't have a national program yet in Canada, our resources tend to be at the provincial levels. This website is not a hotline, but has a link the crisis centres available in each province:

http://suicideprevention.ca/need-hel...ts-of-suicide/

If you are in crisis you can also call 911 from most parts of Canada, or go to your nearest hospital.

If a distressed member is located in the USA, this may be a useful resource that does not require local knowledge:

New ‘988’ mental health crisis hotline launches Saturday (16 July 2022).

Starting Saturday, people in a mental health crisis will be able to call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline). It’ll connect people with mental health counselors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
