The Bangkok (BKK) Thread
In similar style to the SIN thread, I thought it might be useful to gather all BKK related info in one place.
A few frequent Q&As here. Let's correct any mistakes and add info as needed.
What check-in options do I have?
- OLCI via the website and a self-printed BP
- check-in kiosks in the departure hall and a kiosk-issued BP
- check-in at the desk and a printed BP
- check-in via the app now reportedly also works ex-BKK
When do the AY check-in desks open?
3 hours before the flight. Sometimes they open earlier.
Check-in is not flight specific, so if you turn up when the desks are open for a previous flight, they can and will check you in if you are departing later the same day.
Can I access airside before the check-in desks open?
Yes, by (1) doing OLCI and printing your own BP or (2) by using a check-in kiosk in the departure hall.
How do I get Priority Lane access, ie. fast track security and passport control on departure?
You need a BP in J. Nowadays, a self-printed BP or even the app BP will work.
In addition, if you are travelling with an infant or if you are aged 70 or above, you have fast track access. For every 70+ pax, they allow one escort, too.
There is no status-based fast track access. Eg Plats in Y will use the normal queue.
I am already airside and need a BP.
Try OLCI using free wifi or go to the transfer desk. The AY transfer desk is located in zone 2, on the lounge level, in concourse D, close to the intersection with EFG gates.
Which lounge at BKK is the best?
The QR Premium lounge (close to gate D7) allows access to AY J customers as long as you don’t have a J Light ticket. It is probably the best lounge, with à la carte dining. Note that it is only open in conjunction with QR departures (opens ~4 hours before a QR flight and closes when the QR flight starts boarding). Feb24 opening hours: 05:00–08:35; 15:30–20:10; 22:30–02:30.
In addition, there is a JL lounge (close to gate D8) with normal OW access rules. Opening hours depend on JL schedules. Feb24 opening hours: 5:35-9:55 am & 7:05 pm-0:55 am
The CX lounge (concourse G) has reopened in March; Mar23opening hours 8:40 am to 6:35 pm according to the CX website. Normal OW access rules.
The AY contract lounge is the Miracle lounge (close to gate D5; there is another at the intersection of EFG gates), usually considered to be the worst option but quite a decent one anyway. They may only let you in 4 hours before departure, but the lounge is open 24/7. There are separate F and J sections, and at least some AY pax may use the F section.
On arrival, who is eligible for fast track passport control?
Only J pax. This includes all pax whose BP says Business: light tickets, award tickets and upgraded tickets.
You usually need to show your BP to get access.
In addition, if you are travelling with an infant or if you are aged 70 or above, you have fast track access. For every 70+ pax, they allow one escort, too.
Status will not get you fast track access.

See:
Slight OT, but excellent news for anyone who doesn't get access to the QR J lounge at BKK, as the CX lounge is reopening in March (but no good for anyone on QR837, obviously, as it's closed at night)

Thanks for the great summary!
It's worth to mention that Miracle has "First Class" and "Business Class" lounges in BKK. Last July I was going to Business lounge but the dragon said that "sir, you have access to our First Class lounge" (I had J ticket and Platinum status) and instructed me to go to the different entrance. The Miracle First Class lounge was actually quite nice and spacious and not as crowded as the Business one.

No problem, and thanks! AY website says access to Miracle is 4 hours before departure, so I'll fix that, as well. Is Miracle F access available to all AY pax who are eligible for lounge access? At eg. DXB, the quiet backroom is available to Plat&Lumo only.

That is the one big question we don't really know the answer to. At SIN, apparently, they do. At BKK, they should as the Light rule really only applies to QR pax. But I would not be surprised to be turned away if BP says Business Light. However, if there is no mention of Light on your BP, you can visit the lounge for sure.
