My points burning year is progessing and managed to grab an U seat SIN-HEL on a shortish notice, plan on arriving on Scoot to T1 (international) - assume I can go via transfer security/stay airside and get AY boarding pass from the transfer desk in T1, correct? Hopefully no need to go landside and wait for AY checkin to open. I will have a longish layover, if I go with this plan..

There is no airside in SIN T1 securitywise as security control is at each gate. |

I think you should be able to check in online, should be a non-issue from SIN and otherwise most likely at the transfer desk.

In SIN you cannot check-in online as far as I am aware, or even if you can, you need to pick up your BP.

Thanks, guys, much appreciated! Haven’t transferred in SIN since many years, the security arrangement is rather strange in today’s world and makes sense no transfer security as anyone can walk in to the international area w/o security anyway..

Not sure if allowed here, but been looking at AY HEL-SIN for late summer with the family, and it seems the prices have drastically increased in the past week on almost all dates August/Summer. Prices were starting from 720-ish in economy and now almost all 1k+. I can't remember the original J price, but also jumped a lot.
Are these normal prices for this route? I've heard good things about it and looking forward to trying it |

For T1-T3, there is a basic security check before you clear immigrations. You can't enter the transit area without a valid boarding pass and your passport. I find gate security annoying since there are only 2 lines for the whole plane. You will also not be allowed to board the plane with bottled water you may have picked up at the lounge or in transit. Thank goodness for the water dispenser in the gate area.

But you still will need to wait for Finnair desk to open. While transfer desk is open "all day", they won't issue Finnair boarding passes all-day. In my case ( https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip...l ) getting a Finnair boarding pass airside was possible at earliest 17:35-ish (which is at least a bit better than the "3 hours before" rule they will tell you). |

LIke others said, you can stay airside.

Continuing my own previous comment, my vague memory serves that I got my BP at JAL(??!!) counter with the help of the servant agent whom I met at arriving gate.
I might remember totally wrong thou, so dont take this too serious. Anyway, I would simply suggest to search an agent on arrival and explain the need. Thats Singapore anyhow, they do service miracles there, what happened to me as well back then 😁 |

Are you sure about the transfer desk not issuing AY BP's all day? The transfer desk had no problem issuing my MH BP (Sold by AY 105 ticket) ~6 hours before scheduled departure.
Edit. I did never see any "Finnair" desk, however I assume it is the very same desk providing service to multiple carriers. But I think a MH boarding pass is quite something else than a AY boardingpass. Here is how it worked in november 2022 for a AY 22:30 departure from T1: I arrived from KUL at T2. Asked the transfer desk in T2 and was told that transfer desk in departing terminal must be used. Took the train to T3 (T2->T1 transit was closed), walked to T1. At T1, transfer desk D was closed (abandoned). Desk C was open "all-day", but not all airlines was served all day. There are ≈16 stations, and at noon 1-2 were manned. Each station only issues boarding passes for the airlines listed on the screen, and they open 3 hours before departure of the airline they are serving. A station serving Emirates, Finnair, Air France and Bankkok Airways opened just after 17:30, ie 5 hours before the Finnair departure. (I assume one of the other airlines that station was serving had a departure around 20:30 to explain the 3h-rule) Belive me, I tried all other ways to get an AY BP airside earlier and this was the only option. As NWS says he has a longish layover, I assume 5 hours before is not early enough. And without a BP, SIN airside is terribly boring, so based on my one recent experience my advice is to not plan an airside transfer that is substantially over 5 hours. |
So, long time
Some questions, Dubai upgrade didn't clear for me, so I've still got some vouchers to burn. Singapore upgrade with vouchers is probably even harder to succeed? I think I've read somewhere that if you are AYgold (or maybe it is the OWS status), you can select PE on QR flights for free? If that is true, then it's probably wiser to take a cheaper QR flight Hel-Sin, than trying to get an upgrade on AY flight? |

One lesson I've learned is to give CS a ring even if you get denied at T37, I've managed to get myself waitlisted again and upgraded a few times now. It's stupid policywise, but hey, if it works it's better to exploit it. |

Welcome to FT! I got my gold exactly the same way :) I'd say it actually feels extra nice doing it with leisure travel only, I'm doing so on my way to platsku now.
