Finnair flights from TMP start 01.09.

Does this mean that Tampere airport is re-opening? Still nothing on the airport website. But booking with Finnair is now possible!

It means Finnair will take your monies. Whether there will be an actual flight on that schedule is questionable.

To elaborate:
Sept 1.st is the start of a new schedule. Finnair has loaded a very optimistical schedule, with many flights to many routes that may or may not actually operate. Only when departure is nearing, one will know.

This is sadly the current normal. Times are still uncertain, both for travellers and airlines, as no one can really know where the flying market is in 2 months time.

Darn. I did not even have an incentive to book, nor credibility of flights to dare booking, so it was very much like ordering a fantasia pizza:
-mitä sulle täytettä, valitse kaksi
-pepperoni
-pepperoni loppu, käykö metwursti
-okei, sitten toiseksi kinkku
-kinkku loppu, käykö sulle kana?
-okei
-laitetaanko oregano?
-joo
-oregano loppu sori. Mutta kassakone toimii, älä sinä huolestu!

My bookings from June 20 will likely continue to move. And also my motivation to fly is suspended to summer 22.

What will SAS/AirBaltic do, they seem to fly Tampere from August onwards. I wonder if they keep their flights and Finnair might put Tampere earlier on schedule.

How do SK/BT flights relate to AY operations ?

If SK and BT fly from Tammerfors, then passengers may choose to connect at ARN or RIX instead of taking the train to take an AY flight from HEL. AY would probably lose a lot of TMP-based passengers.

For the past 12 months I at least have flown almost exclusively TK and BT. Nicer planes (I really like the A220s compared to E190 or ATR), tier benefits (including lounges), and no extra test requirements. If Finnair stays like it is now I'd probably fly BT even if AY returns to Tampere. And I prefer RIX for transfers.

But RIX requires tests from transit pax, no?

For a while they did, yes. Now I think it's only the very high risk countries for the vaccinated.
