Current AY destinations

It's very difficult to plan anything right now because we don't know where AY flies to. There is no simple list, like "Here are our September destinations", or "Here are our October destinations". Of course, such a list can't be published very far in advance, but we do know that AY has updated their October schedule, so it should be possible to publish a list for SEP and OCT.

FinnairPlus would it be possible to compile a press release, and to publish on your website, a simple list of destinations and number of weeklies per month, for the current month, and the next one? It would help planning immensely! I suppose for most leisure flyers, right now it's not a question of "I've always wanted to go to XXX", but rather "Where can I get to right now".

But does it show the whole of Europe? With ITA, you can choose a 2000 miles radius, which is almost enough, but still you need to feed dates etc.

If I knew AY flies to XXX, it would be so much easier to just look up the schedule and see if the flights match my work schedule etc.

Google Flights is fast and inaccurate. It can show the whole of Europe though.

What would it help? They cancel flights at the drop of a hat. Latest victim is my wife's LHR-HEL, cancelled today. 2 days earlier fell my HEL-CPH. 2 out of 3 outstanding flights cancelled.

Finnair quits domestic flights (permanently?) to KOK, JOE, KAJ, JYV, and KEM. In my opinion, we are experiencing the end of mission of AY whatsoever. Little less than 100 years it went on. Congrats to KLM!

What is the problem here? Finnair will gladly operate if there's demand. These regions want connectivity but are not willing to pay for it or use it enough. If this was clearly to be a temporary dip then society could be argued to come to the rescue. However, the willingness to pay was missing even before covid19. Others can pay, for all they care. The usual story. Politicians can lie through their teeth and speak about the importance and demand all they want, but in the end the number below the bottom line doesn't lie.

AY's mission as gateway from East to West ending would not harm many people except those directly involved with aviation in Finland. Sorry to say that but it is a fact. I (also) used to think, that personal appearance in meetings was a necessity. But as it is nowadays, the TC:s can suffice equally well. Neglecting the domestic connections has also been seen for a long time even though the prices were set up to maximum. So be ready to adjust...

Disagree. Otherwise get back Pori, Lappeenranta, Savonlinna which make even more sense in the light of alternative airport and or transport means and are even bigger cities.

to add my comment earlier, if I really Have to visit these cities, I am just fine taking a flight to Oulu or Kuopio and pop up at Kemi or Joensuu. Kokkola is easy by train, Kajaani I better handle online and Jyväskylä I better connect with some other business trip or not go at all...

just my 2 cents of national geography
