A simplification would have been to make all Y=1PC and all J=2PC. Then their precious simple communication on upgrades would have solved itself...

CS reply this mornng:

AY wants to make it simple so upgraded ticket allows only 1 added baggage.

So for North America and Asia it's 3 bags for tier members while for Japan it is 4?

intuition Nov 12, 2019 12:16 pm

All asia in paid J it is 4 PC for an elite.

Apparently to make things easy, puerto rico and havanna is in the same zone, ie 4PC while NA is 3PC.

OMG, this must be THE most corny thread here. How often a regular passenger needs to check-in more than 100 kg’s?

It's not about whether or not needing a large allowance, but rather a matter of principle of screwing over tier members and making "enhancements".

I sometimes need (maybe 8-10 times per year). I can just pay for it, but the biggest issue is that paying in many airports is extremely complicated. Yes, in HEL it is very simple, but last time in NTE it took over 30 minutes. I challenge anyone to do it in FCO under one hour. There are many outstations, where it takes easily over 20 minutes. Just having luggage allowance in means that process is super simple and fast.

Me as well :) also not job related instrument as that would NOT fit in the hold 😂😂😂

But often I buy too much stuff and bring it home 😏😂😮

Just because you dont hace alot of luggage or need it dows not mean some or many do not... We do not all have the same needs, wants or desires 😁

Ex usa I allways have 3-4 bags ex asia sometimes.

Even if I don't allways need it, it sure is appreciated when I do.

Infact the ONE reason to fly with ba with the family is the extra luggage for all of us 😏

What an argument, just because you don t need it it´s not relevant? Every traveler has different needs, and many of them have different needs then you do. I need the allowance for my job, and as others say you can pay for it sure. But you also can pay for drinks in board.

As for the enhanced situation for voucher/points upgrades, do note that Finnair has you all covered. This text is published under the upgrade renewal page:

If you want to make sure you get to enjoy the full Finnair Business Class experience, you can always purchase a Business Class ticket and also earn more Finnair Plus tier and award points.

The question is why do I need more points if I couldn t redeem them?

Sorry for OT but just felt

I think that AY:s choice of words here is a manifestation of the Finnish phenomenon called "v***uilu", which is disappointing as it in this case specifically targets their frequent customers. Also this argument is shooting themselves in the leg, the extra points are almost useless with current U availability, status is also rather useless if you are buying J anyway and other carriers often have a better J product.

If AY thinks I should pay J and not expect to be able to use my vouchers and points, I will happily purchase a revenue J ticket - on JAL.

...

Yeah, the message itself could've been a benign upsell slogan, but taking into account it is published on the special information page targeting their tier members after revamping the system in a way that limits voucher/points usage and removes baggage allowance one can't see it as anything else than a scornful comment. It is like they decided the perk was too good and want us to know they know...

That is exactly the logic that some previously loyal members will follow.
