The dragons might advise you to visit the non-Schengen Platinum Wing instead. Just explain the situation with a smile and you should be fine.

Clearly I'd need to clear EU passport control and security in the connections area, but the question is, do you need a Schengen BP to visit the Schengen area?
Just to clarify, there is no security control arriving from LHR, deboarding is directly to the gate area. And with a UK passport you can use the automated border control gates which makes it super easy to move between the non-Schengen and Schengen areas.

Hi everyone, apologies if this is has been answered before (and/or is a stupid question, most of mine are!) - as I understand it, if you join on the 2nd of any given month, then your membership year runs until the end of that month, the next year. Presumably if one were to sign up just after midnight on the 2nd (Finland time), that would be fine, or is there a specific time you have to wait until?

Couldn't you just wait until the 3rd day?
If you aren't certain..

We will need to check bags for a flight departing BRU. It appears short haul check-in counters open no later than 2 hours before departure. There also appear to be self-service kiosks. Should I assume there is no way to check bags until the AY agents arrive, presumably 2 hours prior to departure?

According to https://www.finnair.com/fi-en/check-...ights/bag-drop AY hasn't arranged self-service bag drop at BRU, so most likely you have go with the opening times of the check-in counter. This is the case on most of the Finnair out-stations and is one reason why I never fly with checked in luggage - no need to plan the trips to airport according to check in counter opening times.

Thank you. Confirmed this is correct and the check in desks opened 2.5 hours prior to scheduled departure.

I have a question about changing Classic tickets. I booked a return trip and I want to change the data of the second leg. The first leg is already this weekend, but the second leg is only in January. I just asked customer service how expensive the change would be, and the price they want is outrageous. I suspect they reprice the entire ticket and because the first leg is so close in time, the entire ticket (and therefore the fare difference) is incredibly large. The fare difference is more than booking a new one way J fare for the second leg.

What happens if I wait until after my first leg completed to change the date of the second leg? In this case, they can only reprice the second leg, and it should come out cheaper? Do I understand this right, or is there a flaw in my logic?

Had 3 flights just before the end of my tracking period (up to end of Nov) post a few days ago, and as carefully planned they got me over the Plat line. Was expecting the change to be instant when they posted, so asked support. Their answer was that it takes some time to take effect, and all is normal, but they'd escalate just in case.

Anyone have any experience with how long it might take? Want to make sure it'll be active by the time of the return flight later this month.

Generally airlines will reprice based upon the cost of the fare buckets that were available to you at time of booking if you ask for a change after the first sector has been flown.

If you ask for a change before the first sector is flown it's based upon current market pricing on the day you ask for it.

Therefore it's usually cheaper to ask for a change after flying an initial sector, but YMMV.

Is the online chat to contact customer services just completely unavailable outside of office hours? It says it's 24/7, but I just get "All agents are currently busy, and the queue is full, so I can't add more people at the moment. I apologise for the inconvenience. Please try again later." repeatedly.

When I asked Sisu when is best to contact them I got "The best time to speak to an agent is during our business hours when agents are more likely to be available" which made me wonder if it's not 24/77 in any way in reality.

Question about Flex tickets. I have a round-trip booking XXX-HEL-XXX, where XXX is an airport in Finland. I wanted to add another leg so the flights would be XXX-HEL-YYY YYY-HEL-XXX, with YYY being outside of Finland. I was told this is not possible since the ticket was originally booked as a domestic ticket. This sounds strange, but is it correct?

At least there is some difference in taxes are calculated on a pure domestic itinerary vs. an international itinerary (even if it includes domestic segments).

Cheers,

Domestic flights in Finland are subject to 14% VAT whereas international flights are not. I would assume purely domestic tickets are thus not changeable to include international legs.

The ticket is being rewritten, so couldn't the tax also be recalculated?
