CX just yesterday cancelled my codeshare connection HELCDG just before Christmas... from where I had a flight to HKG and on to HND.
They will not get me to CDG and say the new booking has to be in original I-booking class, which is of course very difficult due to Christmas traffic. I had made booking 6 months ago thru amex online, they are trying to sort things out. So much for OW co-op. Any suggestions? |

Right there with you. In my case JL/BA/IB codeshares on AY metal make much more sense - I get 200% Avios in discount Y vs 25% if AY coded (250% vs 125% in C) - if I could only get them posted...

JL? I think not :)
https://www.britishairways.com/en-fi...ing-avios.html discounted Y 60-140% avios on JL code (2x30-70% from silver) vs 25% on AY code in C the respective figures are 225% vs 125% |

But then I guess I will not be able to upgrade Y->J with AY voucher/points if ticket is US even though carrier AY AFAIK.

So, one new disadvantage seems to be that AY only sends those longhaul paid upgrade offers to people with an AY booking code.

Same AY82 the previous day and got no offer with AY PLT / OWE. This might have something to do with the QF marketing code :-(

There is however one advantage of the QF code on the Singapore flights. The distance-based point QF earnings are higher than the flat rate AY earnings for non-elites in semiflex: 9276 km versus 8500 points, and half that in inflex. |
I'm experimenting :) I just booked HEL-MIA-HEL flights in J on the direct AY service. I chose AA flight numbers because that saved me €5. :)
Nah, I chose AA flight numbers to make sure I get the required four segments to requalify for status, since they're enforcing the rule nowadays. And I'm going to let you know how smoothly everything goes with this codeshare flight of mine. So, the first step and problem: seats. Booking process at the AA site was easy, but it was not possible to pick a seat or to see which seats were available. I instantly got a confirmation email stating my record locator. With that, I found the booking on AA.com but was not able to select seats. The AY site did not recognize the record locator (neither did QR). The AY web help desk is closed at this hour. But, lo and behold, in just a few minutes, I received my e-ticket to my email, and in my e-ticket, they have hidden the AY/Amadeus booking reference. I wonder how many passengers actually notice this. So with the Amadeus booking reference, I was able to assign myself seats on the AY site (and was surprised to see that the A340-300 has the new 5/6-abreast seats). So first problem easily solved. Second problem: meal selection. The link for meal selection on the AY site told me "Istunnon tila on virheellinen, pyyntöä ei valitettavasti voi suorittaa. (52002)" and gave me no options. So I will have to give AY a call tomorrow anyway. Keep watching ;) |
So, back to problem #2, the meal. Called AY e-helpdesk. Very short wait. A man, presumably in Kajaani, answered. He looked up my booking and said I should contact AA about the meal since AA sold the ticket. :D I didn't budge, so he talked to a supervisor for some 5 min, came back and said he would be able to add the meal request to the reservation. I hope it works – at least right now, the meal cannot be seen at MMB. Will call back tomorrow if it's not there then.
If this works, then the next problem might be check-in. |
You need to call AA to get the Finnair PNR. Then all your base will belong to us!

My choice of meal now also appears at MMB on the AY website. So far, so good. I won't be able to enter TSA data through the AY website, though. I'll do that at AA.com but I predict AY won't be able to see that and will not let me OLCI. I'll report on that later... The outbound is on 14th Feb. |

Did something change recently? I have had no problems with Finnair OLCI using AA/Sabre booking codes in the past, including passport data. Of course that only works once OLCI opens: 24 hours ahead (not 36!) for AY5.
(Ditto for AF/Amadeus codes albeit with the normal 36 hours.) |
