Seat payment?

I booked a value return to HEL from GVA with my spouse who currently is AY+ basic only. I think I seem to remember that seat selection costs extra correct?

Does this mean that when I book a flight with multiple pax on the same PNR no one is charged for the seat selection (as I'm Gold) when flying in Y?

Yes, you can select seats for all parties on the same PNR.

To add - book free seats by phone, unless seatmap shows changes as complimentary.

What about non-AY OneWorld elites?

Do they get this benefit too? My wife has no elite status with OW.

I assume you are OWE and your wife is on the same PNR. The answer you're looking for is yes As I wrote above, you might have to do it by phone, though.

If phone is needed, wouldn't it be possible to plead for seat selection even when on 2 PNRs? I mean, assuming an operator will void fees manually, they could do it just as easy on 2PNRs. (And I guess they can link PNRs if that is needed.)
Just speculating.
