Depending on the employer, taking Friday off may deduct two days from the Finnish employee's PTO balance, because Saturday will be deducted too.

The spirit of the Finnish holiday act is that you get 5 weeks of 6 working days off on a full year. This does not work well when the working week is 5 days.

(I've had this problem not only with my current employer, but also in a previous job with a Finnish telecom equipment multinational company that shall remain nameless, so it's not just my current employer.)

Okay, but if working hours are like Dolly Parton sings it Working 9 to 5 then AY819 to ARN 20:15 is not a problem.

Problem is how to get back to Finland.
