Strike at technical services
So many bad decisions and here is one result of them, expect many delays and cancellations.... unfortunately I'm due to fly to malaga end of this week, have to hope for the best...
Finnair Technical Services employees walk out
Employees from Finnair Technical Services have walked out on Tuesday June 5. The employee unions have said the walk out will last for one week. The unions did not accept Finnairs proposal on financial support and re-employment support packages for employees who are at risk of redundancy due to Finnairs plan to source its engine and component services from SR Technics.
Impact on flights Finnair estimates that it can fly the majority of its flights despite the industrial action. Some cancellations however can be expected, but at this stage the total impacts of the industrial action are difficult to estimate.
We apologize for any inconvenience this walk out might cause for our customers. We will make every effort to ensure continued operations so our customers travel plans wont be disturbed, says Anssi Komulainen, Senior Vice President, Customer Service. In April, Finnair signed a memorandum of understanding with SR Technics on engine and component maintenance support. The agreement is a part of Finnairs structural change that aims at restoring the companys profitability. Employee negotiations on the impacts of this agreement are still on-going, and they were expected to end on June 12. Finnair has also been in talks with a potential buyer about the possibility of selling a part of its engine operations and securing a part of the jobs currently at risk.
Information on possible changes on flights will be updated at http://www.finnair.com/INT/GB/flight...tures-arrivals
