Billing Question
i recently had a 3 night stay at Fairmont SF. It was almost all prepaid but I had to settle some parking charges. On checkout, the front desk clerk proposed putting everything on a gift card and refunding the prior charges which I agreed to. I checked my CC statement and I got a refund for about $8. I should be getting more like $650. I called them but the person in charge of billing is apparently not there and I sent an email without response. Should I initiate a charge back with Visa or wait it out? We are approaching the 90 day period in which I can claim a charge back. Any help would be appreciated.

For $642, I would do both. Contacting the Acctg Dept at the Fairmont SF will take time to resolve. In the interim, tell VISA you contacted the property and are awaiting a reply!

Many of us pay for our stays with gift cards, including having the hotel refund any prepayments to a credit card. There's actually quite a bit in it for us, when you purchase Fairmont gift cards at a discount during their semi-annual sales.

Yeah. The GC was bought at a discount. That's why I did it.
