Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa

We just spent three nights at this hotel for a quick getaway without kids. We are basic Marriott rewards members, we booked a basic king room with a AAA rate that gave is $25 credit per night. We had some gift cards my husband had been given so we had to stay at a Marriott family hotel. We considered the Clearwater Beach Marriott at Sand Key and one other location that escapes me at this time. Our key criteria was close to the airport, on the beach, activities to keep my husband busy, and fun nightlife nearby. We took uber from the airport and stopped for lunch at an oyster bar across the street from Winn Dixie. We grabbed beer, yogurt and sunscreen at the grocery before heading to the hotel.

Since we were arriving before 1, I expected a wait for our room. The couple in front of us was told if they wanted a balcony there would be a wait. For some reason, we were upgraded to an oceanfront room with balcony and it was available immediately. I still have no idea why we were given this privilege, but we gladly took it. The rooms are really nothing to write home about. They are white and plain. But that wasn't our main focus. They were clean and we got a minifridge.

We headed straight to the pool and used our welcome drink coupons by the pool. There was some type of musician that day. Saturday and Sunday there were great DJ's, this made the pool very active and fun. Lot's of great people watching. We ate lunch at the restaurant by the pool both days and it was delicious. Lemonade and cookies are served by the pool everyday at 2:30. We took advantage of the hour of free rental for a kayak and did a paid rental for a hobie cat. We ate our breakfast and drank our hotel room coffee on the beach or on the lounge chairs in the large green space every morning. We went of site for dinner every night and regretted not staying to eat at Ocean 3030 the last night. We had appetizers from there at the bar multiple nights. The only off site restaurants we loved were Boatyard(nice) and Southport Raw Bar(casual). We also used the gym every morning. It is the largest hotel gym I have ever seen.

All in all it was a great trip. I would go back in a heartbeat and take my kids.
