EVA Waitlist

Hi,

I have done a bit of searching on this and have a basic understanding but would appreciate if anyone had any Eva specific experince/suggestions.

I am trying to book a PL flight from LHR to BKK flying out on 20/3 and back on 5/4. The travel agent has confirmed the flight out but has the return marked as waitlisted. Anyone know how long I should wait before booking another flight and if I do reserve another flight (would either be Eva on a different day or same dates in Elite) would this automatically be cancelled if I do get the original PL flight.

Thanks

David

as if by magic...

First off.. if you have any "status" with EVA (ie silver, gold, diamond), then you must let EVA know. To be sure, I would phone EVA in London directly (with the locator which will be of the form Cxxxxx) to check the agent has passed this on. They might also give you an idea of what your chances are - though in my experience London are hopeless and will just say "we can't say".

You can confirm one flight, and waitlist for others (or other classes). How many others they'll let you wait for seems to depend on who you get. I've been waitlisted for as many as five flights, but have on occasion been told that two or three is the usual limit. There is no commitment until the ticket is issued. So I suggest you wait for multiple dates if they are suitable for you.

Generally your chances with PL are pretty good - especially since Elite is available - usually Elite is first to go. I expect they are holding back some inventory. I can imagine that nothing might move until mid-March. It's a right 'ole game. And given your outbound confirmed date, I can imagine they might be wanting to issue your ticket before they can confirm your inbound. No problem with this if you're sure you want to go with EVA.

Yes... when a seat becomes available EVA, will not change your booking without phoning you or your agent first to confirm you still want it. Typically the inventory is released in Taipei. So EVA will phone around 9 to 10am (either you or your agent). Generally you'll have to decide pretty quickly whether you want the released seat or stick with your booked date. (Make sure the agent doesn't decide for you, unless this is what you want.)

If you're in London, EVA's office is right by Euston Station. Sometimes they seem to "fob off" people telephoning to make reservations outbound from the UK as they prefer them to deal through agents. But if you go in they are friendly (but mildly ineffectual!)

Good luck....
