Cancellations vary by day. Check Flight Status for the March cancellations.

For those who had the same initial reaction I did: This is a list of cities where some flights have been cut. Being on the list without a note does NOT mean that the route has been cut, just one or more flights on the route.

You make a good point. For example, I still see the once a day TPE-CNX flight available for booking into March. :)

I saw some news that Cathay Pacific is providing some frequent flyer status adjustments for the upcoming months: https://loyaltylobby.com/2020/02/25/...atus-response/

Can we expect anything similar from EVA?

As noted, cancellations vary by day.

It’s too hard to select which days since they seem to be announcing some of these cancellations really close-in to the date.

Booked my EVA flights via Expedia. My itinerary has the following penalty info which is confusing and hard to read (on purpose I’m sure). My booking says “tickets are non-refundable, non transferable and name changes are not allowed” yet under penalties, I see the following wording:

PENALTIES

what is my penalty to cancel or rebook?
(the formatting is theirs, not mine)

R.K.Himura Mar 1, 2020 9:18 pm

Based the the string “ANY TIME CHARGE CAD 265.00 FOR CANCEL/REFUND.“ it looks like it is refundable. However I’m not sure if booking via Expedia will make a different.

As for the formatting, looks like someone butchered the formatting. Normally it’s actually quite readable (the following is what you get from BR’s website)

CANCELLATIONS

CHARGE CAD 200.00 FOR NO-SHOW.
NOTE -
1-NO-SHOW FEE WILL BE CHARGED PER TICKET TRANSACTION PER PERSON WITH COUPON STATUS -S //SUSPENDED//
2-CHILD/INFANT WITH SEAT NO DISCOUNT

ANY TIME
CHARGE CAD 265.00 FOR CANCEL/REFUND.
NOTE -
1.CHILD/INFANT DISCOUNT MAY APPLY-PLS REF TO CAT.19 CHILDREN/INFANT DISCOUNT.
2.CHARGE THE HIGHEST REFUND FEE PER EACH PRICING

wysiwyg Mar 2, 2020 1:15 am

Thanks, formatted it makes much more sense. When making a new booking, Expedia shows non refundable, with penalties clearly marked underneath in the summary page. I didn’t pay much attention initially since I have coverage via credit card for other reasons, but likely not for this. Today the penalty shows as

  • Tickets are refundable. A fee of CA $465.00 per ticket is charged for itinerary cancellations. A fee of CA $160.00 per ticket is charged for itinerary changes.

likely due to a different fare class.

Milan launch has been moved from May to 07July20. There are talks BR may end up axing the launch for the year.

Phuket launch is still set for May, but network planning is considering changing that.

carlos.htx Mar 5, 2020 1:54 pm

My parents left last night from IAH-TPE. I asked the check in agent how bad the load is... she basically said only 10 of the 39 business class seats are occupied and the entire plane is only 1/3 full, crazyyyyy. I am ready for this all to be over.

Well, Milan is the wrong place to launch now cause no Taiwanese will want to go to Northern Italy with the outbreaks of Coronavirus.

You know, with the scary numbers they are saying (70% of the population might end up catching it), if I can be sure I will survive this OK, I would rather get it now and get it over with. This thing is not going away any time soon - even if it does in the summer, it will probably come back in the winter.

A lot of these reductions don't seem to bad (e.g. SFO, SEA). I wonder if it is because the passenger loads are still OK or the need to run them for cargo?

Loading for SEA didn’t seem very good lately. I took BR26 and there were only 4 of us in RL. On BR25, there were 8 of us.

On a side note, I opted for the second cabin so I could be by myself. After a while, a few other passengers joined me. The FAs said it was because one guy was coughing non-stop in row 2 (and didn’t want to wear a face mask). CP told pilots who phoned it in to local authorities. Seemed a bit excessive to me, but I wonder what happened to him upon landing.

I personally would want my airline to take these things seriously. If that person comes down with it, then I would want traceability. Look at the story of the Australian musician and how BR handled it: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eva-...d-19-case.html
