There will be 30 Premium Laurel seats (at 62" pitch) and 279 Economy Class seats (at 31"/32" pitch).

As a comparison, the current A330-200's have 24 Premium Laurel seats (at 61" pitch) and 228 Economy Class seats (at 33" pitch).

According to EVA's website, they will have 3 A330-300s by year-end 2011.
2-Class layout makes sense on the 333... use these on China and Japan routes and use the 77W as intended on long haul flights to US and Europe.

I think it's interesting that there are 30 J seats and no Elite class. I would have thought 24 J seats so it's interchangeable with the 332 for use when they need more Y seats.

I don't think they depend on PRC citizens to fill the seats for this (transiting through TPE) market - there are enough "foreigners", Taiwanese and overseas former PRC citizens who have given up their PRC passports who would do this.

What I find worrisome is the 31/32 inch pitch.

Yep, that's less that the current fleet (except MD90) which are mostly 33/34. (Even 36 upstairs on a 747 if you're very lucky!).

Here's a picture of the A330-300 in Toulouse:

Is this a new color scheme, or an unfinished paint job?

I am guessing it is unfinished paint job. This is way too boring if it stayed this way.

At the same time, it's not so surprising that they aren't getting the new (confirmed full flat? yes!) J-class. The A333s like the A332s are going for more regional routes, not long-haul. In this matter they will be just like SQ, which has a lie-flat regional business class on its A333s, and the full-flat version for its 77Ws and A380s.

And it's classic BR to change the name again, they love fiddling with those titles; Economy Deluxe => Evergreen Deluxe => Elite; Super Business/Super First => Premium Laurel => Super again?
I'm not sure what the deal will be with the existing Koito PL seats (presumably replaced with the new J seat), but new 'lie-flat' J seats will be along soon under a new name. I'm guessing the J seat on the 330's must be a similar design to the current PL if they are keeping that name, but made by another manufacturer.

The new J won't be called PL when it's introduced.

Wow. That is really dull. I'd like to think it wasn't finished yet but then i always thought the painting was done in one go. Surely they'd at least want the Chinese titles on the side as well as English.

This aircraft flew to TPE last week so someone must've seen it tucked away in the maintenance area.

It will be called Premium Laurel according to EVA website, at least for the 333.

Yes, because the A333 doesn't have the new J seat.

By the way, the reason that A330-300 was looking so plain is because they've now covered it in awful Hello Kitty graphics.

The previous comment is correct, the 3 A330s will all be in a Hello Kitty Livery.
The 3 versions in 2nd Generation Hello Kitty livery are "Hello Kitty With Magic Stars", "Hello Kitty Loves Apples" and "Hello Kitty Around The World.
Cabin Interiors, amenities as well as Inflight Meal on the A330s, will be different on the 3 A330s as they will feature different themes of Hello Kitty characters.

All 3 A330s will fly to Asian regions

Story on the livery from EVA air:http://evakitty.evaair.com/ch/story_magic.html

The liveries:

Well, I have a feeling they wouldn't be so "appreciated" elsewhere.

I was thinking about that when I saw the naked picture of the plane but then I thought it would be 332s. I guess it makes sense to use 333s as there will be the demand.

I think there might be a licensing issue for the planes to go outside certain routes.
