Brussels Lodging?

A friend and I are heading to Brussels at the end of the month for a week or so and are looking for some recommendations on places to stay.

Part of the time will be spent visiting friends in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, however the rest of the trip use Brussels as the staging point for visiting other towns via rail.

I'd like to find a pension or similar style lodging that located near rail/metro to allow easy travel to see the sites in Brussels as well as day trips to Brugge, Antwerp, Ghent and some where in the Ardennes for hiking. I'm not adverse to hotels, but am really looking to stay in a neighborhood to get a feel for that aspect of Brussels.

Any recommendations?

I know it is your second choice, but I bid via Priceline and got a 4* NH for $57 Jun 6-9. I think the euro/dollar relationship is less favorable now, but you should be able to get reasonably close to that. www.betterbidding.com for more reported wins and a link to PL.

I totally agree with you about pensions, but sometimes the above is just in case.

Sometimes www.venere.com has B&Bs that might be more to your intent. I found a very quirky and real feeling one in Venice from venere.
