When will FLR re-open
The Florence airport has been closed for a few months - runway work. The closest re-open date I find is 'late' April - however I'm able to book FLR on April 15th for a flight from London.
1. Anyone know the real reopen date - or is it like most construction in Italy - maybe soon....

call them
he information desk (arrival terminal) is open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm providing tourist information (tel.01139 055.315874)
or post on alt rec travel europe. there are a couple of people in FRL and BLQ that keep track of that.

I was told last month that work is progressing on schedule, so it still looks like April. Of course, I've never seen any construction work in Italy get finished on schedule, except when I remodeled my apartment. ^
For that matter, I hardly ever see big public construction projects in the US finish on schedule, unless there are huge early completion bonuses.
Anyway, worst case your flight will go to Pisa instead- and PSA is a much nicer airport, only adds about an hour to your time to downtown FLR.
