Bodensee - Lake Constance, Germany
I am planning a trip and will be spending 3 nights in this region. Can someone recommend a "great" place to stay? I currently have a reservation for the second and third night at Steigenberger Inselhotel in Konstanz, but they were not able to book us for the first night as well. If possible, i would rather stay in one place for the 3 nights.
Our trip has us arriving in this region on May 6 and checking out May 9.
Thanks for your help!

Try www.hrs.com to search for a hotel. I'd also consider Meersburg.

We stayed in Meersburg several years ago and enjoyed it very much. It has a very charming old town and a nice waterfront area with outdoor cafes, etc. There is also a small Dornier museum, with scale models built by Dornier engineers of several of the planes - at least those models that survived the bombings in WWII. If you are "into" aircraft, this would be a nice visit (there is also the Zeppelin museum in nearby Friedrichhafen). But I digress...
Back to your question, we stayed at the Gasthof zum Baeren, http://www.baeren-meersburg.de/ see also http://www.karenbrown.com/property.asp?propid=1510 , which was very clean, comfortable, friendly and pleasant. The Gasthof Weinstube Lowen http://www.karenbrown.com/property.asp?propid=1511 , just across the street, looked very nice as well. In fact, we had an excellent dinner in their restaurant.
I would echo the others' recommendation to stay in Meersburg.

The museum is small, but the models are original, built by the Dornier engineers (in aluminum and brass) prior to building the actual planes. We were there several years ago and we met and were taken under the wing of the docent, who was a retired Dornier engineer. He regaled us with stories, and we had a great time.
That part of Europe is very nice, and I am sure you will enjoy your visit to Lake Constance. Have a wonderful trip!
